The African Violet Club of Greater Atlanta

A club open to all interested in learning about, growing, or showing African violets and gesneriads. If the door is locked, just knock.

Monthly meeting take place in Decatur on first Saturday of the month. Please click on "About / Details" above for more information. The club is open to all who are interested in learning about, growing, and/or showing African violets and gesneriads. Our meetings are usually held on the first Saturday of each month (no meeting in July), unless otherwise posted. Our in-person meetings are held at the First Baptist Church of Decatur, 308 Clairmont Road, Decatur GA 30030. Drive into the driveway at the front of the church and continue back through the parking lot towards the softball field. Our meeting room is on the main floor of the building facing the softball field. Meetings start at 1 pm so it is helpful if you arrive early to view sale plants and leaves, and to give you time to get settled in before the meeting begins. Our newsletters are sent out the week of each meeting and will provide you with the upcoming meeting agenda and information. On the occasions when we have non-local speakers, our meetings take place via Zoom and not in-person. This may occur once or twice a year. If you would like to attend our meetings as a visitor/guest, send us an email at: [email protected] for additional details about upcoming meetings.

Hurricane Isaias is just a memory now. Just two more days until our rescheduled Fall Sale THIS SATURDAY, October 17th. The doors open at 12 noon to the public, until 3 PM. Lots and lots of plants, both African violets and other gesneriads, plus supplies that include pots, potting mix, and perlite. See you there!

While Hurricane Isaias forced us to cancel our show and fall sale last Saturday, we have been able to reschedule the sale (no show however) for this coming Saturday, October 17th. We hope you can make it.

Regretfully, we will have to CANCEL the show and sale scheduled for tomorrow, October 10th. With the weather issues and the distance that many of our club members travel, it will be precarious to be on the roads under the expected conditions. While it is likely that we will have to set aside doing a show, we do have many plants ready for sale. Please keep checking this page for updates. We may be able to set up a sale for next Saturday.

Just a reminder to join us at our September meeting this coming Saturday, the 5th. We'll iron out final preparations for our October show and sale, and then do repotting and propping. Bring a plant to repot and if you need help, we'll help you. Also bring your own supplies, but we'll have potting mix and perlite for sale if you need it. The meeting starts at 1PM, but arrive around 12:30 for social time before hand.
