This is what a 417 sq. ft. addition looks like.

For this Elm Grove project, we opened up the first floor, relocated the kitchen, and added additional square feet to completely change how the spaces connect. These in-progress photos really show the transformation taking shape, a part of the renovations we don't always get to show! From opening up the existing home to framing the new space and building in the powder room and hallway cabinetry.

From blue walls and a single mirror to soft, warm Sherwin Williams Greek Villa that blends seamlessly with the ceiling, this hallway bathroom feels brighter and more inviting.

The dual vanity mirrors paired with Kohler wall sconces give the bathroom a cleaner, more finished look while subtle Levant Series tile in Gris brings an updated design to the once standard flooring tile.

Our team worked closely with the homeowner to bring their ideas and selections together, and along with the refreshed primary bathroom and first-floor powder room, these updates gave this Pewaukee home a fresh new feel without taking on a full home remodel.

Sometimes, focusing on a few spaces that need a little attention is all it takes to make your home feel new again.

75 years called for a pretty special celebration!

What started with S.J. Janis in 1951 has grown and changed over the years and as we look back, we’re reminded that a company doesn’t make it 75 years on its own.

It’s the homeowners who have trusted us with their homes, the people who have worked alongside us, our friends, partners, employees, and families who have helped make S.J. Janis what it is today.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has been part of the S.J. Janis story. What better way to celebrate 75 years than together aboard the Harbor Lady with beautiful views of Milwaukee.

We can’t stop thinking about this cabinet color.

The custom built-in cabinetry in Sherwin-Williams Moth Wing gives this home office so much warmth and personality, and we love the unique direction these homeowners chose for the room. Finished with Top K***s Kara hardware in Honey Bronze, this once-underused den is now a beautiful and functional place to work.

This primary bathroom was ready for a refresh, with the goal of making it brighter, warmer, and more inviting.

We replaced the built-in whirlpool tub with a Signature Hardware Leith freestanding soaking tub and a Kohler faucet in polished nickel. The original vanity, with dual mirrors and minimal storage, was replaced with a custom Dura Supreme Cabinetry vanity in a warm Cashew finish. A full-width mirror and soft lighting from Visual Comfort & Co. add even illumination while integrated linen towers maximize storage for everyday ease.

Travertini Argento porcelain tile flows across the bathroom floor and into the frameless glass shower, creating an uninterrupted view throughout the room. Complete with a built-in storage niche and Toemi Island Rock mosaic tile, the once enclosed shower is now a spa-inspired experience for the homeowners to enjoy.

Relocating the kitchen changed this entire home.

The original kitchen was tucked into the back corner of the home with limited storage and little connection to the surrounding living areas. Two dining rooms occupied valuable square footage while the heart of the home remained disconnected from where family and friends naturally gathered.

Rather than simply updating the existing kitchen, our design-build team reimagined the entire first floor. By relocating the kitchen, adding a new living room, and creating a dedicated dining room and powder room, we transformed a series of separate spaces into one home that flows naturally from room to room.

The reimagined kitchen is anchored by custom Seville Cabinetry in off-white and a custom navy island with Calacatta Imperial Gold quartz countertops. A KOHLER Artifacts bridge faucet and matching wall-mounted pot filler in Vibrant Brushed Moderne Brass, and integrated storage throughout bring warmth, purpose, and everyday function to the space. Framed by new Andersen Windows + Doors windows, the kitchen is brighter, more connected, and naturally becomes the heart of the home.
