Est. in 1988, Holman Masonry Inc. is a Class A contractor who provides complete construction design solutions for both commercial and residential projects.

About
The owner and president, Johnny Holman, began his career in masonry by working for his uncle during the summers when he was 16 – 18 years old. Within two years, he was working side jobs with the help of a laborer, and within 5 years, he started his own business completing one project at a time. Johnny currently lives in Farmville with his wife, Melanie Holman, and their five children. Melanie is the day-to-day office administrator. The rest of our team consists of approximately 20 employees who work on the sites of various projects. Services
Holman Masonry Inc. provides main-contractor and sub-contractor services to a wide range of companies and individuals. Our company has gained considerable experience over many years in both residential and commercial construction, whether it is a new project or existing property renovations. We provide complete construction design solutions for both private residential properties and large commercial projects in the local Farmville area, as well as surrounding areas of Chesterfield, Richmond, Lynchburg, and Hanover.

Something comes back from a jobsite. Brent probably has questions. 😄

How’s it running?
What needs attention?
Is it due for maintenance?

Keeping track of the tools and equipment at Holman is a job in itself. Brent keeps individual records for each piece of equipment, tracking inspections, oil changes, tires and other maintenance so nothing gets overlooked between jobs.

Johnny’s take on the system says it all: “He’s really simplified my life.”

“Attention to detail” is one of the compliments we hear most often from customers. But what does that actually look like in masonry?

It’s alignment, spacing, joints, corners, edges and making sure each section comes together the way it should — all while keeping an eye on the bigger picture.

And it goes beyond the masonry itself. It’s protecting the surrounding space, keeping the jobsite organized and cleaning up when the work is done.

Attention to detail isn’t one final check. It’s a hundred little things done right along the way.

Plot twist: Bigger isn't always better.

We spend a lot of time on large commercial jobs, but our crew enjoys the residential projects, too.

These smaller jobs can be a nice change of pace from the intensity and extensive specifications of commercial construction. Plus there’s something especially satisfying about seeing a homeowner’s space transform right in front of you.

Even bricks have a travel radius. 🧱📍

Here’s something you might not know about commercial construction: On just about every commercial job Holman works on, project specs require materials to come from within 500 miles of the jobsite.

That helps keep materials relatively local and suppliers within reach if there’s ever an issue or more of the same product is needed.

So the next time you pass brickwork like this at Hampden-Sydney College , remember that choosing the right material involves a lot more than finding a brick that looks good.

Our jobsites aren't the only place things are moving. 👀

While our crews are working on projects across Virginia, there's plenty happening back at the Holman shop too.

Materials are moving. Equipment is coming and going. Johnny pulls up in his truck and heads back out in the UTV. Crews stop in for safety training and get ready for whatever the next project calls for.

It's a side of Holman most customers don't get to see, but a lot of the work behind the work happens right here.
