The culprit? The pool solar heating system. ☀️

When pool solar equipment isn't installed properly, it can interfere with the roof tiles underneath, leaving them displaced or damaged.

And on a tile roof, those gaps can create vulnerable areas where water may find its way underneath.

It's a good reminder that anything installed on your roof needs to be done with the roofing system in mind—not just the equipment going on top of it.

Tile is coming off and this home is getting a completely different look.

Next up: a charcoal gray, 1½" mechanical-lock standing seam metal roof. With the brick exterior on this house, Richie Colletti already knows this one is going to look sharp when it’s finished.

Of all the things that can cause problems on a Florida roof… iguanas probably aren’t the first thing that comes to mind. 🦎

On this roof, Richie Colletti lifted a tile and found iguana waste collecting underneath it. The concern isn’t just the mess—deterioration around vulnerable areas can eventually contribute to water getting where it shouldn’t and damage to the fascia below.

Just another example of why what’s happening under the tile can matter as much as what you can see from the ground.
