Happy November 🍁 Yesterday marked the beginning of Carbon Monoxide Awareness Month!
So... what exactly IS carbon monoxide (CO)? You've probably heard it called "the silent killer" (and for good reason). CO is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas produced whenever fuel is burned. Your furnace, water heater, gas stove, fireplace, wood stove, gas dryer, and even your vehicle can all produce it.
Here's something you might not know: CO exposure doesn't have to be life-threatening to affect your health. Prolonged exposure can cause symptoms like headaches, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, and confusion.
This is one reason we believe low-level CO monitoring is so important. Standard CO alarms are designed to alert you at specific thresholds, while low-level monitors can provide additional awareness of lower CO concentrations. *Both have an important place in home safety.*
Shout out to National Comfort Institute for keeping us learning, questioning, and raising the bar!
