When Richmond was still a a Southern city: Crowds of people on Broad Street near Belvidere, where two of the crates containing parts of the Gen. Robert E. Lee monument were being hauled to the site after arriving from Europe. c May 7, 1890.

in 1753, George Washington became a Master Mason, the third degree of Masonry.

Washington paid two pounds and three shillings in 1752 to join the Lodge at Fredericksburg, Virginia. He received his first degree of Entered Apprentice on November 4, 1752 and then rose to the second degree of Fellowcraft four months after that.
