Making progress on this large residential install. Initial rotor zone activation and it looks good!!

10/27/2026

We are on a large residential install up in North Santa Rosa County this week in Jay. This will be a 9 zone Rain Bird system that is connected to a 1.5hp submersible pump displacing 35gpm. 8 rotor zones with 10 rotors per zone and some have a mixture of RVAN rotary nozzle heads mixed in. The final zone is a large spray zone to incorporate all Landscape beds throughout the front yard in order to control watering specifically to the plants. In the summer months here in Florida, your turf grass will always need more water than the landscape beds. Separating the turf from the Landscape beds will allow you to precisely control watering to each.

Today while beginning our assessment of the irrigation systems on campus at UWF from the recent hurricane, we ran across this little guy living his best life on the Cannon Green. He was absolutely amazed at how we were able to make the water come on and go off with our remote. So I did what any good irrigation guy would do, I gave him the remote and showed him how to turn on and off the zone. He was blown away. It was on this day another irrigation business owner was born!!

Our hearts are with everyone affected by Hurricane Isaias.

We hope you, your families, and your homes made it through the storm as safely as possible. We know the days and weeks after a hurricane can bring difficult cleanup, uncertainty, and unexpected challenges. To everyone dealing with damage or beginning the recovery process, please know that you are in our thoughts.

In times like these, our community’s strength shines through. We are grateful for the neighbors, first responders, volunteers, and local organizations supporting one another and helping families rebuild. Every act of kindness makes a difference.

As we move forward, let’s continue to look out for one another, lend a helping hand where we can, and remain hopeful. Together, our community will recover and grow stronger.

From our family at Hydraflow Irrigation to yours, we are wishing everyone safety, strength, and a steady recovery.

One of our responsibilities as the irrigation maintenance contractor at UWF is prepping all irrigation systems for storms. This includes hurricanes. When these storms pass through they knock huge trees down and when this happens it can rip apart pipes that feed our irrigation systems. If these large backflow assemblies were live and pressurized it would cause large volumes of water to create an even more mess than what a hurricane already produces. We went around earlier today turning off all water sources for our irrigation systems.

Getting this zone back operational at the Performing Arts Fountain at UWF. The university will be having a grand event here in a couple weeks for the inauguration of their new President and this courtyard is getting a full makeover!

Before and after a 2” mainline repair at UWF today. It’s always smart to use some primer on large mainline repairs that are under high pressure but I’d say the previous company (not us) went a little wild on the primer 😂

A little addition to an existing system in Holley By The Sea today. This homeowner has a beautiful butterfly garden and wanted the easiest irrigation solution. Rotors to cover everything and micro sprays for their potted plants!!
