Another successful project with The Annex Group on their Central at The Horizon development in Fargo, North Dakota!

Our Engineered Aggregate Piers were selected as a value-engineering alternative to overexcavation and replacement of undocumented fill, as well as deep foundation systems that would have needed to extend 115 feet or more.

In addition to avoiding these costly foundation alternatives, we were able to increase the allowable bearing pressure, allowing for smaller concrete footings and additional savings for the project team.

Great working with Annex Construction on another successful project!

Another successful value engineering alternative to deep foundations!

On the Toledo High School Auditorium project in Toledo, Oregon, our team worked with Todd Construction Inc. to replace 50-foot-deep drilled piers with just 8-foot-long Engineered Aggregate Piers, saving the project significant time and cost.

As you can see in the photo, site conditions were tight and presented some unique challenges, but our crew navigated them and got the job done.

Great working with the Todd Construction team on this one!

Enjoyed the good views in Cody, Wyoming while installing piers for the Essential Fuels Store No. 6. Our Engineered Aggregate Piers were chosen to mitigate the risk of moderately collapsible overburden soil and to reduce the potential for total and differential settlement.

1000+ piers installed for Lease Crutcher Lewis on the Cedar Hills Apartments project in Beaverton, Oregon.

Our piers were selected as a value engineering (VE) alternative to 3-foot gravel pads, increasing the allowable soil bearing pressure from 3,000 PSF to 7,000 PSF. This improvement allowed for smaller footing sizes and ultimately saved the project team several hundred thousand dollars.

A big thank you to Lease Crutcher Lewis for recognizing the value of early collaboration and bringing us on board while there was still time to evaluate VE opportunities and optimize the foundation design.

Supporting another Oregon school project from the ground up.

GTFC-West recently completed ground improvement for the Danebo Elementary School Addition in Eugene, Oregon, working with Pence Contractors.

Site explorations identified soft, undocumented fill soils overlying organic soils within the development area. These compressible materials presented the potential for structural settlement, making ground improvement an important part of the foundation design. Based on the subsurface conditions and anticipated structural loads, Engineered Aggregate Piers (EAPs) were selected to improve the existing soils and provide reliable foundation support for the new addition.

From Notice to Proceed to onsite in just 11 days!

GTFC-West recently completed the installation of approximately 700 Engineered Aggregate Piers (EAPs) for Headwaters Construction Company on the SLC Student Housing project in Salt Lake City, Utah.

This project moved on an exceptionally fast track and it’s a great example of the advantage of our turnkey, in-house design/build approach - allowing our engineering and field teams to move quickly when a project schedule demands it.

Thank you to Headwaters Construction for the opportunity to be part of this project.

Our team recently completed the installation of 2,500+ Engineered Aggregate Piers (EAPs) for Dick Anderson Construction on the new Helena High School project in Helena, Montana.

The subgrade conditions consisted of fill, silty sand, clayey sand, elastic silt, and fat clay, all with varying combinations of gravel and cobbles. Our team worked closely with Dick Anderson Construction to overcome hurdles with the site including in-place utilities, shallow groundwater, and large cobbles and boulders.

Even with difficult drilling at times, our team was able to install upwards of 150 piers per day, finishing the project on schedule and providing a uniform subgrade to receive foundations and floor slabs.

We look forward to more projects in beautiful Montana!

Another great year on the water!

We had the pleasure of bringing a few clients on our annual fishing trip off the coast of Washington. The group was able to bring home some pretty large king and coho salmon.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to spend time with great clients and make memories outside the office. Already looking forward to next year!

Another successful project wrapped up in San Antonio, Texas!

We’re proud to have completed the installation of our Engineered Aggregate Pier (EAP) system for The Annex Group at the Central at Commerce project.

This project was originally designed with drilled piers. However, our team designed an EAP solution that provided a much more cost-effective foundation system while still meeting the project’s requirements.

This was a challenging site, requiring careful planning and ex*****on throughout our two mobilizations. Great work by the entire team and everyone involved in getting this project across the finish line!

Proud to have partnered with Essex General Construction, Inc. on a project in Albany, Oregon.

Our Engineered Aggregate Pier system was designed to support some significant wall loads on this project (up to 23 kips per lineal foot) and our field team completed installation 33% ahead of schedule.

Even better than finishing early was the feedback we received from Essex’s Project Manager in our post-project survey:

“The GTFC-West team accommodated multiple design and schedule changes while remaining responsive and proactive at every step. It was genuinely a pleasure to work with your team.”

Great work by everyone involved, and a big thank you to the Essex team for the opportunity to partner on a successful project.
