Building good relationships is one of the best parts of running a small business.
You meet good people, you build trust, and eventually you have a pretty solid group of people you can call when you need something or when someone needs something you don’t do.
We’ve been lucky to meet a lot of good people in the trades, and we’re always happy to send work their way when they’re a better fit.
Good people referring good people. That’s what it’s all about.

So apparently there’s a 3-day weekend this weekend.
We’ve been so dang busy lately that Labor Day kind of snuck up on us.
And if you’re just finding out Monday is a holiday too…

We’re all doing great. 😂

Hope everyone has a safe and relaxing Labor Day weekend!

⚡ This is what 4 breakers with possible solid strand aluminum wire looks like in an electrical panel — and this is exactly why home inspections matter.

Aluminum wiring was commonly used in residential construction during the 1960s and 1970s when copper prices spiked. It is not automatically a dealbreaker or a red flag🚩 — but it absolutely needs to be on your radar as a homeowner or buyer. Here is why:

🔴 Aluminum expands and contracts more than copper — over time this causes connections to loosen at outlets, switches, and breaker terminals which can create heat buildup and or arcing.

🔴 Insurance implications — many Florida insurance companies flag aluminum wiring during a 4-Point Inspection. Some carriers will not insure a home with aluminum branch circuit wiring without remediation or specific upgrades.

🔴 Not always visible — aluminum wiring in a panel is something a trained inspector catches. Most homeowners have no idea it is even there.

✅ What can be done — a licensed electrician can install CO/ALR rated devices, add copper pigtails at connections, or in some cases rewire affected circuits. It is manageable — but only if you know it is there.

This find came from a real inspection right here in Citrus County. These are the exact things I am looking for every single time I open an electrical panel.

Got questions about your home's electrical system? Give me a call — I am always happy to talk it through.

No post today.
Well… technically this is a post.
But I’m tired, so here are some random electrical pictures from our camera roll.
We’ve been working in the heat, putting in long days, driving all over the place and generally running around like we have somewhere to be.

Apparently we need a day off.

So that’s what we’re doing.

Here. Look at electrical stuff. 😂

A few days, a whole lot of wiring, and we’re finally getting to the fun part. ⚡️

Brand new service installed, panel is in, lights are up, receptacle is in, and the wiring throughout the building is done.

Now we wait for inspection.
One more box to check before we call this one officially finished.

Yesterday was one of those days. 🫠
We almost wrapped up a metal barn electrical job, headed to the Citrus County Chamber ribbon cutting, squeezed in a service call, and then ended the evening at the ER with our daughter, who was dealing with a pretty miserable case of food poisoning. ❤️

Thankfully, she’s doing better, but after 5–6 hours at the ER, we were all more than ready for bed.

Needless to say, it was a LONG day.
But the barn is almost finished, the service call got taken care of, we got to celebrate another local business milestone, and most importantly, we got our girl taken care of.
Back at it today. 💪

Outdated panels almost always will be required by insurance to change/update. Infact, we just got a call this morning about 1.

A little different scenery on yesterday’s service call.
Bryan was called out to investigate an electrical issue at this property. After pulling the meter, we found a failed meter base, not exactly the kind of thing you want to discover, but at least it explained the problem.

The local management team was present for the entire process. 🐥🫏🐎
They were not particularly helpful. 😅

Another one coming together.
There’s a lot of work that happens before anyone gets to say, “Looks good.”

Panel work, equipment, connections, testing — the usual collection of things that are much more interesting to us than they probably are to everyone else.
We like it that way.

P.s. its HOT 🥵
