“Was working with an older contractor yesterday and he asked me if I’ve heard of the Axe Theory?
He said,
The sun beat down on John's sweaty brow as he swung his axe into the stubborn tree trunk. Hours passed, and the tree barely showed a scratch. A stranger approached, watching John struggle.
"Why don't you sharpen your axe?" he asked.
John wiped his forehead, frustration etched on his face. "I don't have time. I need to get this tree down."
The stranger nodded and walked away.
Hours later, the tree still stood, and John was exhausted. His swings grew weaker, his hands raw.
The point wasn't the tree or the axe. It was John. Taking time to sharpen your axe, to invest in yourself, is the key to getting the job done.
