The 4-Inch Problem

Four inches may not sound like much.

Until you're trying to fit a new water heater through a closet door.

Many older lowboy water heaters were approximately 19" in diameter. Today's replacement models can be closer to 23" in diameter.

That small difference can mean:

This week I had the opportunity to attend the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference in Atlanta as an advocate for workforce development, President of PHCC of Georgia, and proud supporter of the plumbing industry.

One of the highlights was visiting the National Plumbing Competition, where approximately 50 of the nation's top plumbing students showcased their skills, professionalism, and commitment to the trade.

I was also proud to spend time with fellow contractors, PHCC leaders, educators, and industry partners who are working together to build the next generation of skilled professionals.

The future of the plumbing industry depends on the investments we make today in training, mentorship, and career opportunities. After seeing these talented competitors in action, I am confident our future is in good hands.
