The scariest thing on Halloween isn't a costume. It's an overloaded circuit.

Inflatables, fog machines, light strings and a speaker, all running off one outdoor outlet through a chain of extension cords. That's how a breaker trips mid-party, or a cord starts running hot.

Spread the load across a couple of circuits. Use outdoor-rated cords, and don't plug one power strip into another. If a cord or plug feels warm, unplug it.

Dimmers don't damage your fixtures. Flickering is the clue to what does.

If your lights flicker on a dimmer, it's almost always one of two things: bad wiring, or a bulb that isn't made for that dimmer. Swap the dimmer out and the problem stays.

Check the bulb box first. If it doesn't say dimmable, start there. If it does and the flicker keeps going, that's a wiring call.

1980s panels weren't built for what your house runs in 2026.

Back then a panel was sized for the house as it was. Since then most homes have added central air, a bigger kitchen, a home office, maybe an EV charger. The panel usually stayed the same.

Signs it's falling behind: breakers that trip when nothing changed, a panel that's warm to the touch, or lights that dim when something big kicks on.

Wiring a remodel in Laguna Hills is the part nobody sees.

Once the floor goes back down, every run under it stays there for decades. So it gets done right while it's open.

Same two guys on every job. Family-owned since 1989.

Your breaker tripped again. Resetting it isn't the fix.

A trip is the breaker doing its job. It's telling you the circuit is overloaded or there's a short somewhere.

Flip it back on without unplugging the heavy load or finding the fault, and you're wearing out the breaker every time. Do that enough and you're risking a fire.

If the same breaker keeps going, that's the one to have looked at.

DM us TRIP and tell us which circuit it is.

Thermal hazards in your panel show up as heat long before they show up as an outage.

A loose connection gets warm. Warm connections arc. Left alone, that heat is what takes out a breaker, or worse.

Two things to check this week. Is an outlet or switch plate warm to the touch? Is your panel warm, or are breakers tripping when nothing changed? Either one is worth a look.

DM us HEAT and we'll set up a time to come check it.
