The Women of WIELAND took some time away from the office to gather at Boss Cider for an afternoon of socializing and connection. Each lady received and assembled a bouquet, creating arrangements that reflected the unique personalities and diversity of the incredible women who make up our team.

As projects ramp up and schedules get busier throughout the summer, opportunities like these provide a great way to reconnect with coworkers, strengthen relationships, and enjoy time together outside of the workplace.

Multiple city, state, and trail-related entities gathered on June 15 in downtown Grand Rapids to break ground on the most recent installment of the Grand River Edges Trail. WIELAND was hired several months ago to begin the mobilization and construction of this important next leg of the trail system.

Grand Rapids Mayor David LaGrand spoke, as did State Representatives Mark Huizenga and Carol Glanville, along with a host of other city and trail-related organizations. WIELAND’s West Michigan office participated in the ceremony.

The Leonard to Ann Street Trail is just the latest leg in an ambitious, multi-decade project that someday hopes to connect the entire west shore of Michigan via a walkable and bikeable pathway.

Every student deserves an opportunity-filled future, and WIELAND’s Controller and 2025 JA Volunteer of the Year, Amanda Canfield, is helping make that vision a reality.

Amanda recently visited Eaton Rapids School’s Lockwood Elementary and Lansing School District’s Cumberland Elementary School to share the opportunities that await students after graduation. Through lessons in financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship, students are gaining valuable skills that will help them succeed both in and out of the classroom.

Junior Achievement is equipping the next generation with the tools and knowledge to take ownership of their economic success, plan for the future, and make informed academic decisions. Here at WIELAND, we’re proud to play a small role in supporting that mission!

On Thursday, June 4, hundreds of people gathered in Inola, OK, just outside of Tulsa, to celebrate the groundbreaking of a major addition to Sofidel’s tissue plant. Sofidel is an Italian corporation and a Top-5 market share leader in the production of tissue in North America. WIELAND was chosen as the Construction Manager for over 1.0M SF of new production and warehousing space, with a total state investment of ~$750M. This marks WIELAND’s second large-scale project for Sofidel, having previously built in Circleville, OH, in 2024.

Oklahoma Lt. Governor Matt Pinnell was joined by numerous other local municipal leaders to celebrate the project. Sofidel Global CEO Luigi Lazzareschi spoke and led a group of Italian executives in an official groundbreaking. Sofidel has operations in 11 US states. This new project is officially underway and is expected to be completed by May, 2028.

We’re hiring! WIELAND is looking to bring a new Assistant Safety Manager on board in the Lansing office.

This role supports WIELAND’s Safety, Health, and Environmental (SH&E) operations through coordinating safety training, maintaining records, facilitating safety initiatives and promoting proactive hazard prevention. An Assistant Safety Manager will need to be able to work across departments to support OSHA compliance, continuous improvement, and effective communication of company safety standards.

At WIELAND, one of the best parts of our internship program is seeing interns graduate and officially join the team full-time. This year, we’re excited to celebrate five outstanding graduates as they begin the next chapter of their careers with WIELAND.

Cole Keifer graduated from Michigan State with a degree in Construction Management and will support the Brick Row project in downtown Lansing as an Assistant Project Manager.

Jackson McKinney earned his degree in Construction Engineering Technology from Louisiana Tech University, where he served as the 2025-2026 AGC x N***T President. Jackson has accepted a position in WIELAND’s Shreveport Office.

Mitch Mills, a recent graduate of Michigan State’s Construction Management program, has been in WIELAND’s internship program for the past two summers and will join the Lansing office full-time in July.

Tyson Kizzia recently graduated from Louisiana State University and will be joining WIELAND full-time after several years as an intern. Tyson has played an important role across multiple projects, and we’re excited to officially welcome him to the team.

Westin Allen will join the Shreveport office after graduating from the University of Texas at Tyler. During his time in school, Westin served as President of the CMSA Timber-Strong team, showcasing strong leadership both in and out of the classroom.

Congratulations to each of you on your achievements and graduations. We’re proud to have you on the team and excited for what’s ahead.

In this role, you’ll support the full construction lifecycle, from bid coordination to project closeout.
