Inside the Role: Jose, Keeping Equipment Running
After 20 years as a lineman, Jose Ramos was ready for a change and wanted to try something different. Two years ago, he joined Concrete Industries as a Maintenance Electrician, bringing with him years of electrical experience, training, and certifications. His role is focused on one important goal: keeping equipment running safely and efficiently.
Jose's days are busy, often by design. After the morning meeting, he walks the facility to make sure everything is running smoothly, checks inventory, and stays ready to respond when an issue comes up. He also prioritizes preventive maintenance because staying ahead of problems can make all the difference. His work is hands-on and can involve everything from bucket trucks and man lifts to drills, impacts, and other power tools.
Jose works closely with his supervisor and the company's master electrician, who help him work through questions and unfamiliar challenges. When he encounters new electronics or equipment, he isn't afraid to ask questions and learn. That willingness to keep learning has been an important part of his success, especially as his role has expanded. What began with mastering daily tasks and responding to immediate technical issues has grown to include leading larger projects.
Jose also enjoys being able to lend a hand across departments, helping keep cranes, machines, and other equipment running. He believes that supporting different areas of the company plays an important role in the organization's overall success. For him, one of the best parts of the job is working with people from different backgrounds and having something new to work on every day.
