Another successful project in the books!

We're proud to have completed the rehabilitation of the Havelock Avenue Bridge, wrapping up the project ahead of schedule and just in time for the National High School Rodeo at the Sandhills Global Event Center.

This bridge deck rehabilitation included milling and removing deteriorated concrete from the existing bridge deck, placing a new fiber reinforced concrete overlay, and utilizing shotcrete to restore damaged underside of the bridge structure.

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our heavy civil crews, this critical infrastructure is safer, stronger, and ready to serve the drivers who rely on it every day!

Traffic is once again flowing on Havelock Avenue between North 84th Street and North 98th Street after Lancast...

Yesterday, one of General Excavating’s hydro vac crews assisted Lincoln Fire & Rescue with a technical rescue following a trench collapse.

Trench collapses are one of the deadliest hazards in construction, and too often these situations have a different ending. This serves as an important reminder that no deadline or shortcut is worth the risk. Proper trench protection and safe excavation practices save lives.

We are grateful to see another positive outcome from a trench collapse and are honored that Lincoln Fire & Rescue trusted General Excavating to assist with the rescue efforts. Working together, the quick response, coordination, and teamwork of everyone involved helped make this rescue successful.

A huge thank you to our crew for stepping up in challenging conditions and extreme heat, and to the dedicated firefighters and first responders who work tirelessly to protect our community. We are proud to support our community and assist when our skills are needed most!

UPDATE: Lincoln Fire and Rescue has freed a man trapped in a trench collapse in east Lincoln Tuesday.

Take a look at the latest project from our Heavy Civil department located in Crofton, Nebraska!

The Weigand Marina project includes dredging of the existing inner and new outer marina to improve water depth and navigation; installation of a floating wave attenuator, a breakwater/earthen jetty system for shoreline and wave protection, new boat slips and docking systems with water supply and electricity, including seasonal and day-use configurations.

This project represents a significant investment in the marina and will enhance access, improve shoreline protection, and support long-term recreational use for years to come.

Did you know, General Excavating has a Natural Gas Distribution Department?

Our gas crews are currently replacing more than 2,500 LF of 3” and 3,000+ LF of 6” natural gas main using directional drilling beneath the streets of Wahoo, Nebraska. This trenchless construction approach helps minimize disruption, while safely upgrading critical infrastructure for the community.

General Excavating was proud to support the University of Nebraska – Lincoln Construction Management program for a day of hands-on learning with our field professionals.

Students had the opportunity to step out of the classroom to operate heavy equipment, participate in a safety toolbox talk, and connect with industry professionals about careers in construction. Experiences like these help bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and the realities of the field.

Thank you to the UNL Construction Management students and faculty for spending the day with us. The future of construction is bright!

Our bridge crews are hard at work on two new bridges located off I-29 in Tea, South Dakota. From start to finish, the project involves steel H-pile installation, concrete substructures, steel girders, concrete bridge deck, and approach slabs. The bridge structure located at 85th Street will be a new diverging diamond interchange, only the 5th of its kind in the state of South Dakota.

Projects like this are made possible by the knowledge, skill, and dedication our employees bring to the job every day. Their experience and attention to detail is what makes all the difference in maintaining the highest standards of safety and craftsmanship.
