Monarch Gardens LLC

Monarch Gardens LLC Prairie inspired garden design. Climate resilient urban habitat. Featuring online classes and an exclusive membership forum.

Managed by Benjamin Vogt, author of A NEW GARDEN ETHIC and the forthcoming PRAIRIE UP: AN INTRODUCTION TO NATURAL GARDEN DESIGN (2022). Our gardens draw inspiration from local native plant communities, specifically prairie and riparian edge habitats, employing artistic design that's pleasing to both people and wildlife. We believe in restoration ecology and the power of wilder urban landscapes to

bridge the gap between people and the fauna they depend upon. Over time, our gardens rebuild soil, reduce stormwater runoff, and mitigate the need for intensive management. Benjamin is a sought-after keynote speaker and his freelance work has appeared in a variety of publications. Monarch Gardens offers a plethora of online closes and an exclusive online membership community for intermediate gardeners.

In case you missed our August post, we're now posting exclusively at MILK the W**D in an effort to consolidate.

Also, the Instagram feed is my personal favorite place: https://www.instagram.com/monarchgardensbenjaminvogt/

The newsletter is the main spot to get monthly updates and news as well, and is more reliable than any social media page (sign up via new website link below)

And remember, the new website is just packed full of helpful / accessible information from how to matrix design to choosing plants based on sociability to where to find native plants to working with w**d control officials and HOAs and tons more to help you at whatever level you're on.

Oh and the online classes -- we now have 20 having added two new ones this summer. We expect to add two more this winter as I work on a new book.

Then it's time for an in-depth webinar on August 1 to help you design a sustainable, artful, climate-resilient landscape.

In this two-parter over one session we'll go far into the w**ds on how to choose plants in a way we don't consider enough for less maintenance, and how to put the plants together using your region -- and nature -- as the source of inspiration.

Q&A, group chat from around the country (and world), lots of hand outs, and a recording made available for one month.

Join us in unlawning America on August 1.

We've got open slots for fall installations if you're looking to unlawn or redo some beds. Even have an opening for a larger garden. And fall is a fantastic time to get really large sites prepped for winter sowing.

Please contact us soon to schedule a consult so we can get the ball rolling for September and October.

Newsletter subscribers get in on our soft launch -- although 9,500 isn't too soft of an audience. Special offers and party favors coming to those folks as we start the transition away from Monarch Gardens to, well, you'll have to wait and see. The website is going to help so many folks to bridge horticulture and the real world via natural garden design. Let's stop horticultural gatekeeping; let's open the floodgates and convert more lawn.

Not a subscriber? You can fix that:

Join us at MILK the W**D as, over the coming weeks and months, this page will slowly wind down as we focus and streamline our bandwidth. MtW will also be undergoing a name change, along with our business name, but it has been and will continue to be the main hub for activism, research, plant pics, and eco news that drives us onward. It's a far more active and interactive place with 40,000 followers.

Below is an image of Baptisia alba and Echinacea pallida because they look cool together.

In 2-3 weeks the new website will launch -- as will our new name. This account will then also move over to the page Milk the W**d (whose name may or may not change as well).

This is an exciting evolution of not only the brand and mission, but a slightly new focus in where we're headed to reach and empower more people to rethink pretty in their urban and suburban landscapes.

The new website will feature more resources, more actionable content, and more accessible how to than ever before. It's clean, it's slick, and it will hopefully resonate as a hub for action. Teaser images below.

You'll want to make sure you get the newsletter for other upcoming announcements, too. https://www.monarchgard.com/news.html
