If you’re sump pump made it through the last few days….congrats!! That was a storm for sure. This is just a friendly tip of the day. They make WiFi water alarm that will notify you when water is on the floor and has made it above the sump pump threshold. Here is a good recommendation for a good alarm that can be found on Amazon or online.

The metal piece inside is called an anode rod. Its entire job is to rust so your tank doesn’t have to! You can see what a brand-new one looks like compared to this one, which came out of a 10-year-old system.

To maximize your water heater's lifespan, these rods should be replaced every 1 to 3 years, and the sediment at the bottom should be flushed at least once a year.
