YOUR NEXT MOW JUST TURNED INTO A HAUNTED OBSTACLE COURSE.

Inflatables. Fake tombstones. Tie-downs. Extension cords hiding in the grass.

The skeleton doesn’t scare me. The cord I can’t see does.

Before your next visit, settle three things with the customer:

• What needs to move before you arrive. Be specific about decorations, cords, stakes and anchors.

• What gets skipped if the display stays up. Agree on which areas you can safely service and which will wait.

• What happens if they want a return trip. Agree on the extra work, timing and any charge BEFORE going back.

Walk the lawn before starting. If an area isn’t safe to service, stop and contact the customer.

Don’t wait until you’re standing beside a 12-foot skeleton to explain what’s included in the mowing price.

A quick conversation now saves a whole lot of “I thought you were going to…” later.

How do you handle Halloween setups on your route?
