🚨💩 SEPTIC TANK BACKED UP? SOMETIMES THE UPGRADE IS THE PROBLEM!

Here’s another perfect example of why septic tank upgrades are only as good as their installation and the maintenance that follows!
We received an emergency call from a homeowner whose septic tank had backed up and was no longer draining properly.
Upon arrival, our team discovered that the septic tank had been equipped with an effluent filter. That’s actually a GREAT upgrade! These filters are designed to help protect the septic drain field by preventing suspended solids and sludge from escaping the tank.
BUT HERE’S THE CATCH… 👀
An effluent filter requires regular cleaning and maintenance!
Without it, the filter can become clogged with the very solids it’s designed to capture. And when that happens, wastewater can no longer flow freely out of the septic tank.

And that’s exactly what we found.
But wait… IT GETS BETTER! 🤦♂️
During our careful septic tank pump-out, cleaning, and inspection, we discovered another problem.
THE FILTER HOUSING WASN’T EVEN PROPERLY SECURED TO THE PIPE!
The assembly came apart and fell right into the bottom of the septic tank.
You can’t make this stuff up!
Fortunately, this homeowner understood the situation and gave us the opportunity to do what we do best.

✅ Established a recurring septic maintenance program that includes effluent filter cleanings, septic tank inspections, and scheduled pump-outs.
