OLSON LEWIS + Architects is proud to host the NSTC Summer Mixer on Wednesday, July 15, from 5:00–8:00 p.m. at our offices in Manchester-by-the-Sea.

A lantern-like clerestory brings light into the center of the great room and creates a visual connection to the second floor.

As the stair rises beside it, the opening draws the eye upward and leads to a new view from the landing: higher, broader, and looking back out toward the harbor.

The stone became one of the home’s most distinctive features.

Its six-inch depth allowed for stronger texture, deeper mortar joints, and more shadow across the surface. The material was selected and detailed to relate to the existing stone walls around the property, helping the new house feel connected to its setting.

The design began with the site and its direct view toward the harbor.

The great room was turned ninety degrees so the kitchen, dining, and living spaces could all take in the view. Rather than reserving the view for one room, the plan gives each part of daily life a connection to the water.
