Some jobsite scares are scarier than anything you’ll see on Halloween.

* Showing up to find out the right materials and tools haven’t.
* Finding out the plans changed but the schedule did not.
* Realizing somebody measured wrong.
* Hearing, “The schedule has changed. We need it now”

The good news? A strong crew knows how to adjust, solve the problem and keep the job moving. At A&B Electric, we’ve seen our share of surprises on the job, and we’re glad to have people who know how to handle them.

Happy Halloween from A&B Electric.

Our Meridian shop recently pre-fabricated temporary power boards for delivery to Georgia Power’s Plant Bowen. This project gave our Meridian-area apprentices a great opportunity to build hands-on experience in a controlled environment before taking those skills into the field.

It’s one more way we’re preparing the next generation of electricians while supporting the work happening across A&B Electric.

For plenty of people, the better fit is learning a trade, earning while they learn and building skills that can open doors for years to come. Careers in Construction Month is a good time to remind young people that there’s more than one path after high school, and a skilled trade can be a very good one.

Eli Weaver heard about A&B Electric’s apprenticeship program from his friend Jaron, who told him it was a good program, a good career path and a place with good people. That got his attention and he says that the college route just wasn’t really where he saw himself going.

He started out on local jobs with a couple of mentors, then found himself heading to Georgia pretty quickly. Eli admits that it was a little intimidating at first. He didn’t know much and didn’t know many people, but he made friends, kept learning and settled in.

These days, he’s learning more about terminating, EMT, bending pipe and fire alarm work. He likes figuring out how to do the job the right way and make the finished work look clean.

What does he like most about A&B? The people.
“They’re good to you. They help you rely on yourself, and you can learn a lot.”

Eli says he’s learned a lot already, he’s been able to save money, and most importantly, he likes where he works. Learn more about our apprenticeship program here: ABElectric.net/careers.

Employee Spotlight: Brody Weaver

Brody Weaver graduated from Kemper Academy in 2025 and came to work at A&B after a few of his buddies started working here. Outside of work, he’s usually at an MSU football game or hunting and fishing with his dad and brother.

One of the things Brody likes most about the job is the independence it has already given him. He’s making good money, bought the truck he wanted and is proud of being able to start building the kind of life he wants for himself.

He also likes that there’s always something new to learn. Right now, he’s proud that he can run pipe and bend PVC and hard pipe without having to be told exactly what to do, and he’s working toward getting better at reading blueprints.

His advice for anybody starting out is pretty simple: “Listen. Don’t be hard-headed. Listen and learn.”

That sounds about right. Learn more at ABElectric.net/careers
