One of our guys spotted this on a lawn this week and sent it straight to Patrick, and it is worth knowing what you are looking at.

Meet the armyworm. Unlike grub worms that do their damage underground by chewing on grass roots, armyworms work above ground.

Think of them like tiny lawn goats. They chew grass blades all the way down and leave behind brown patches that look almost like the lawn has been scalped.

If you are seeing irregular brown areas that seem to appear fast and spread quickly, armyworms could be the culprit. The good news is we treat for them.
