Clocks fall back Sunday. You get an extra hour.
Here's a plumber's idea for 15 minutes of it. (Smoke detector batteries first, of course.)
Grab a flashlight and check three things:
Under every sink. Look for drips, water stains, or a cabinet floor that feels soft. Slow leaks can hide in there for months.
Your water heater's temperature. 120°F is plenty for most homes. Hotter wastes energy and can scald.
The washing machine hoses. Pull the washer out a few inches. Cracked or bulging rubber hoses are worth swapping for braided steel before one lets go.
That's it. Fifteen minutes and you'll know your house a lot better.
What's the one home chore you always save for when the clocks change?
