💛 Powering More Than a Project 💛
Yesterday was a special day for the Koontz Electric team as we had the honor of presenting a $20,000 donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital following the completion of our work on the new Central Standby Generator Plant in Memphis.
Representing Koontz Electric for the presentation were Superintendents Sergio, Robert, and Oswaldo, along with President/CEO Dean Hoover. These team members were proud to represent the many Koontz employees whose hard work helped make this important project possible.
Our team was honored to play a role in building critical power infrastructure designed to help support the continuity of St. Jude’s lifesaving operations—but this project came to mean so much more to us than the work itself.
During our time on campus, our team was reminded of the incredible children, families, doctors, researchers, and staff behind the St. Jude mission. Those connections made this project especially meaningful and inspired us to give back to an organization whose impact reaches families around the world.
We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to contribute both our work and this donation to a mission that brings hope to so many.

A Decade of Safety Excellence
Joey Dold, Vice President of Utility at Koontz Electric Company, Inc. (KECI), recently spoke to more than 125 members of Entergy’s Contractor Safety Advisory Board (CSAB), sharing safety and quality best practices and the importance of maintaining a strong safety culture in everything we do.
KECI was proud to officially announce an important milestone: 10 consecutive years without a recordable OSHA incident on an Entergy project.
Milestones like this aren’t achieved by chance; they result from our people looking out for one another, following established safe work practices, and prioritizing safety and quality on every project.
We are proud of the men and women whose dedication made this achievement possible.

“We’d like to recognize our Koontz Electric Company crews for their exceptional work keeping the power on this weekend.”
Our crews worked tirelessly in 100+ degree heat to prevent a substation failure that could have affected more than 2,000 customers. Thanks to their hard work, teamwork, and commitment to safe work practices, the issue was addressed, and electrical service remained uninterrupted.
We’re incredibly proud of these employees and grateful for their dedication, not only to getting the job done, but to doing it safely and protecting the communities we serve.

At Koontz Electric, safety isn't just a policy; it's a mindset demonstrated every day in the field.
Congratulations to Ben Noll's crew for earning our July Good Catch Award after identifying and preventing a potentially serious electrical hazard while working on a project in South Carolina.
As part of the required electrical verification process before beginning work under an established clearance, the crew discovered 120 VDC present on a circuit that was expected to be de-energized. Rather than making assumptions, they followed our STAR (Stop, Think, Act, Review) process and completed a Hot-Dead-Hot verification on every circuit. Their disciplined approach revealed the unexpected voltage before any work began.
The condition was immediately reported to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), allowing the affected circuits to be properly identified, placed under the appropriate clearance, and verified safe before work resumed.
This Good Catch serves as a powerful reminder that complacency has no place in our industry. Had the crew relied solely on expectations instead of following established electrical safety procedures, the outcome could have included serious electrical shock or burn injuries.
Because they trusted the process, verified that conditions were electrically safe, and spoke up when something wasn't right, a potential incident was prevented before it ever had a chance to occur.

At Koontz Electric, we're proud to play a role in the long-term modernization of McNary Dam, a vital hydroelectric facility located on the Columbia River along the Oregon–Washington border.
Since 2024, our team has been working on this multi-year project, which will continue through 2030, to improve the reliability and longevity of critical electrical infrastructure supporting the dam's powerhouse operations.
Our scope of work includes replacing major components of the electrical distribution system, including a new overhead bus, overhead disconnect switches, and surge arresters. These upgrades will help ensure safe, reliable power delivery while enhancing the facility's performance and resilience for years to come.
In addition, Koontz Electric is refurbishing existing generator switchgear cubicles through structural modifications and the installation of new internal electrical equipment and components. These improvements modernize essential systems while extending the service life of critical assets that support daily operations.
Projects like McNary Dam demonstrate the value of experienced craftsmanship, careful planning, and a steadfast commitment to safety. Working within an active hydroelectric facility requires precision, coordination, and the dedication of skilled professionals who take pride in doing the job right.
We're honored to support this important infrastructure project and look forward to continuing our work alongside our project partners as we help strengthen one of the Pacific Northwest's key sources of renewable energy.

For nearly 70 years, Koontz Electric Company has proudly called Morrilton home. What began as a local HVAC business has grown into one of the nation's premier industrial electrical contractors, with more than 200 dedicated employees serving customers across the United States.
We are honored to be recognized by the Petit Jean Country Headlight. This recognition reflects the dedication, craftsmanship, integrity, and commitment that every member of the Koontz family brings to work each day.
