Ever notice how the right fit can make even a simple window treatment look completely different?

Store-bought blinds are manufactured in standard sizes, but your windows aren’t always standard. Even small differences in width, height, depth, or window shape can lead to gaps, awkward mounting, or blinds that simply don’t look quite right.

Custom blinds are measured specifically for your windows. That precise fit creates a cleaner, more finished appearance while helping your blinds operate properly and provide the light control and privacy you expect. You’ll also have more flexibility when choosing materials, finishes, slat sizes, and operating options.

At Vertical Vic's, we’ll professionally measure your windows and help you design custom blinds that look like they were made for your home—because they were.

You don’t have to motorize every shade in your home at once.

Start with the windows where motorization will make the biggest difference—hard-to-reach windows, large shades, frequently adjusted bedroom shades, or windows that get intense sunlight throughout the day. Automating these first can make everyday light and privacy control noticeably easier.

At Vertical Vic's, we’ll help you decide where motorized window treatments make the most sense for your home, lifestyle, and budget.

Why can the price of custom shutters vary so much from one home—or even one window—to another?

Several details can affect the final cost, including the size and number of windows, shutter material, louver size, frame style, specialty window shapes, and installation requirements. A standard rectangular window, for example, may require a very different shutter design than an arch or other uniquely shaped window.

That’s also why an accurate quote starts with your actual windows—not a one-size-fits-all price.

At Vertical Vic's, we’ll help you explore the options, understand what affects your investment, and design custom shutters that fit both your windows and your priorities.

Zebra shades, banded shades, dual shades…are they all the same thing?

In most cases, zebra shades and banded shades refer to the same style of window treatment. They feature alternating bands of sheer and opaque fabric that move past one another as the shade is adjusted.

Line up the sheer bands to let in more natural light and maintain a more open view, or overlap the opaque sections for increased privacy and light control. It’s this ability to transition between the two that makes banded shades such a versatile choice for everyday living.

At Vertical Vic's, we’ll help you explore fabrics, colors, and operating options to customize banded shades for your home.

Some rooms are missing color. Others are missing texture.

That’s one reason woven wood shades have become such a popular choice. Their natural fibers and distinctive weaves add warmth, depth, and visual interest to a window without making the space feel heavy or overdone. They work beautifully with everything from relaxed coastal interiors to modern, organic spaces.

Add an optional liner when you need greater privacy or light control, and you get natural beauty with everyday functionality.

At Vertical Vic's, we’ll help you find woven wood shades that bring just the right amount of texture and warmth to your home.

Love the look of wood at your windows? You have more than one way to get it.

Wood shutters offer a substantial, built-in appearance that can highlight the architecture of your windows. Their adjustable louvers provide excellent control over light and privacy, while genuine wood brings natural warmth and character to the room.

Faux wood blinds offer a similar warm, classic look with a different construction and typically a more budget-friendly price point. They’re also durable and easy to maintain, making them a practical option for busy spaces.

The right choice comes down to the look, functionality, and investment you want for your home. At Vertical Vic's, we’ll help you compare your options and find the perfect fit for your windows.

Bathrooms and kitchens ask a little more from your window treatments.

Because these spaces are regularly exposed to humidity, splashes, and changing temperatures, moisture-resistant composite or synthetic shutters can be a smart alternative to traditional wood. You still get the timeless, tailored look of shutters—plus easy-to-clean surfaces, excellent privacy, and adjustable light control.

At Vertical Vic's, we’ll help you choose shutters made to handle the demands of your space while looking beautiful for years to come.

Ever wonder why some drapery looks rich and luxurious while other panels seem a little flat? Fabric fullness makes a big difference.

Fullness refers to how much fabric is used compared with the width of your window or drapery rod. More fullness creates deeper folds and a softer, more substantial appearance, while less fullness produces a cleaner, more streamlined look.

The ideal amount also depends on the fabric, pleat style, and overall look you want to achieve—which is why custom drapery is about much more than simply choosing a beautiful fabric.

At Vertical Vic's, we’ll help you get every detail right, from fabric and fullness to pleat style and hardware.
