We’ve recently been working on an exciting project for a new barn and guesthouse complex. The barn frame is made of hand-hewn, green oak, entirely constructed with mortise and tenon joinery; each piece lifted and locked into place by the Will Wallace-Gusakov team of expert carpenters. One of the most rewarding days we have ever spent on a building site was watching the barn frame raising. The day was capped off with the centuries-old tradition of the Wetting Bush, a way of honoring the buildings materials and symbolizing the structure’s roots by nailing a bough to the apex of the frame.
