Kostow Greenwood

Kostow Greenwood We believe that building a great space requires tapping both sides of the architectural brain—the functional and the aesthetic.

A well-designed architectural space delivers more than functionality: it creates actual experiences. Through smart, responsible design and an integrated approach to project delivery, Kostow Greenwood Architects succeeds in combining left-brain functionality with right-brain aesthetics. The result for you: inspiring spaces, thoughtfully brought to life.

Our Principal, Gary Li, is back in the office this week after an inspiring and productive trip to San Diego for the AIA Conference on Architecture & Design 2026.

While the conference showcased emerging technologies, evolving design approaches, and innovative project work from across the profession, one message stood out throughout the week: successful projects depend on much more than good design. The strongest outcomes are achieved when design is supported by clear leadership, effective communication, thoughtful use of technology, and a practical understanding of how buildings can evolve over time.

Gary returned with valuable insights on collaboration, adaptability, and the future of architectural practice, along with new connections and ideas that will continue to inform our work.

As part of the conference experience, Gary also joined a theatre tour, where he had the opportunity to explore one of San Diego’s performance venues and capture the space through a hand sketch. It was a fitting reminder that observation, curiosity, and drawing remain powerful tools for understanding how people experience the built environment.

We’re excited to bring these ideas and perspectives back to our projects and conversations at KGA.

A New Perspective from Sang Hun Luke Cho-

KGA’s Senior Project Architect, Sang Hun Luke Cho, has built a career working on remarkable projects across Canada and New York City, gaining a wealth of experience, perspective, and practical knowledge along the way.

We’re excited to share that Luke is launching his own Substack, a place where he’ll explore everything from lessons for emerging architects and designers to observations on how the profession is evolving. Drawing from 15+ years in the industry, he’ll share stories from the field, reflections on the changing nature of architecture, and insights shaped by firsthand experience.

Luke’s perspective is one we value greatly at KGA, and we’re thrilled that a wider audience will now have the opportunity to learn from his experiences and viewpoints.

KGA wishes our client, St. Ann’s Warehouse, a successful final run of performances for The Maids, the groundbreaking play originally written by Jean Genet. This production, presented by Donmar Warehouse, reimagines Genet’s classic work for contemporary audiences in a new version written and directed by Kip Williams.

Originally premiered in 1947, The Maids is widely regarded as a groundbreaking work that influenced generations of avant-garde dramatists and remains a powerful exploration of social and psychological conflict. Its themes of power, identity, and performance continue to resonate with contemporary audiences. This spirit of innovation and artistic risk-taking dovetails perfectly with St. Ann’s longstanding commitment to presenting bold, thought-provoking work.

KGA is proud to work with St. Ann’s to help secure DOB approvals for their productions and support the unique programming that has become a hallmark of the organization. It is always rewarding to play a role in helping bring ambitious theatrical experiences to life.

Congratulations to the cast, crew, and creative team, and best wishes for a successful final run of performances.

KGA would like to extend our warm and heartfelt congratulations to Krysta Rodriguez () on landing the iconic role of Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway.

Krysta’s extraordinary talent shines not only on stage as a performer, but also in the design world, where she serves as an interior design consultant contributing her creative eye and thoughtful perspective to projects at KGA. Her experience spending so much time in theaters dovetails naturally with our niche work in performance and theater spaces, bringing a uniquely informed point of view to the design process.

We are inspired by her artistry, dedication, and ability to bring beauty and storytelling into every space she touches.

Congratulations, Krysta! Your KGA family is proud of you and wishes you great success in your turn as Roxie.

Architecture shapes how cities remember. In New York City, memorials are more than monuments, they are public spaces for reflection, gathering, and collective memory. This Memorial Day, we recognize how design can honor sacrifice while connecting generations through shared civic experience. While many head out of town to kick off the summer season, we return home to a city that quietly carries this shared history every day.

KGA’s Luke Cho (Senior Project Architect) and Ngawang Tenzin (Architectural Designer) attended the Facades+ Expo hosted by The Architect’s Newspaper, a leading conference series focused on the latest innovations in building envelopes, materials, and facade systems. Bringing together architects, engineers, fabricators, and manufacturers, the NYC event offers a deep dive into performance, sustainability, and emerging technologies shaping the future of the built environment.

The expo came at a critical moment for our team, as we are actively seeking a glazier in New York City capable of meeting the scope and technical demands of one of our current projects. Being able to experience materials firsthand, evaluate systems up close, and speak directly with knowledgeable vendors allowed for meaningful, in-depth conversations and connections across the industry.

Opportunities like this—where research, sourcing, and collaboration intersect—are invaluable to our process. The timing couldn’t have been better.
Thank you, Facades+ Expo!

Earlier this month, some of our KGA team headed to Caveat on the Lower East Side for Fun by Design: The Interior Design Game Show—an evening of quick thinking, questionable guesses, and highly competitive fabric identification.

Between rounds of popcorn (with an impressively vast array of seasonings), cocktails, and mocktails, we cheered on guest designers as they raced to develop solutions on the fly proving that creativity under pressure is very real (and very entertaining).
A fun, engaging night that celebrated creativity, collaboration, and the lighter side of design.
