Why does nobody buy blue pottery?

As a garden center, we’ve noticed something strange: blue outdoor pottery and planters are always the last ones left. We’ve seen it everywhere, even at garden centers across the country.

White, black, gray, cream, green, yellow, red... they all go. But blue? Somehow it’s always still here. We actually think they’re gorgeous, so we’re making it worth your while.

How do you plant 17,000 flats of pansies?

Today we’re kicking off our fall pansy crop at Five Stones, with three teams working together to get thousands of plants into production.

One team stays ahead preparing the soil, while two planting teams place the pansy plugs into each flat. Once planted, everything is moved into our climate-controlled, fully irrigated greenhouses where the pansies will grow into healthy fall plants.

We planted 1,500 flats on our first day, and we’re growing thousands more for the upcoming fall gardening season in Oklahoma.

It may look empty now, but give us a few weeks and this greenhouse will be filled with flowers.

This backyard transformation is starting to come together.

With the pool in place, we’re now grading the gravel, pouring the concrete pool deck, and building a massive turf putting green with two bunkers and integrated drainage.

Once the concrete and putting green are finished, we’ll move on to the landscape installation around the pool and turf to complete the space.

This machine has saved us thousands of hours and thousands of dollars in labor.

Our soil filling machine allows us to quickly pre-fill and prep thousands of plant flats instead of doing the work by hand. With 17,000 flats pansies coming up for our fall crop, that efficiency makes a huge difference.

From greenhouse production to fall plant production, investing in the right equipment allows us to grow more plants, save labor, and get crops ready faster.

Watch our fall crops grow from young plants to ready-for-sale color.

We're growing ornamental kale, ornamental cabbage, and mums in our greenhouses, with this fall crop expected to be ready the first week of October.

We're already getting ready for fall gardening in Oklahoma, growing the plants that will bring color to Oklahoma City landscapes, flower beds, porches, and gardens.

How do we keep our greenhouses cool during Oklahoma summers?

These are wet walls, one of our main greenhouse cooling systems. Water continuously runs through specially designed cardboard cooling pads while large fans pull hot greenhouse air through the wet walls. As the air passes through the moisture, it cools before circulating through the greenhouse.

Proper greenhouse ventilation and temperature control are essential for keeping our plants healthy through Oklahoma heat.

Meet the crew behind this fiberglass pool installation.

From the pool specialist to the aggregate rock specialist, every person on this crew plays a role in getting these larger pool construction and landscaping projects done right.

Day 2 was all about getting the gravel base prepped, checking our levels, and getting the site ready for the pool shell. It takes a good team to pull off a project like this.

Fall may still feel a long way away, but we're already growing for it.

Here's a look inside our greenhouses as we get thousands of fall plants ready for Oklahoma. We're growing mums, ornamental kale, ornamental cabbage, and pansies, with some of our fall crops already on track for late September and early October.

Our mums are grown right here in our greenhouse, along with thousands of other plants that will bring fall color to Oklahoma City landscapes, porches, and flower beds.
