Let’s clear up a common idea: “If I have gutter guards, I’m all set.”
Sometimes yes. Sometimes no.
In Washington, pine needles are tiny and sneaky.
They can still slide in. They can still stack up. And once stuff gets wet, it can clump together like a mat.
So even with guards, it’s smart to check your gutters and downspouts now and then.
Because if water can’t drain, it can cause problems fast. Overflow. Backflow. Staining. Rot near the edges.
Also, some guards can hide the problem. Everything looks fine from the ground… until the next big rain and water pours over the gutter like a waterfall.
This is why we look at roof + gutters together during a roof evaluation.
They work as a team. If one part is failing, the other can suffer.
