Thanksgiving HVAC Maintenance Tips

To keep your home comfortable during the holiday rush:

✔️ Replace your air filter—extra guests = extra air particulates.

✔️ Clean return vents for better airflow.

✔️ Don’t block vents with decorations or furniture.

✔️ Check your thermostat schedule before everyone arrives.

✔️ If you’re cooking a lot, use your kitchen exhaust fan to keep humidity balanced.

We are THANKFUL to all of our customers, for the community support and continued BLESSINGS.

Blessings to your families too, FIERS HVAC!

As back-to-school season kicks in, it's a great time to make sure your home's air conditioning system is running efficiently—especially if you're in a hot climate where a comfortable home is key for after-school focus and restful sleep. Here's a quick checklist to ensure your AC is in top shape:

✅ Back-to-School AC Maintenance Checklist

1. Change or Clean the Air Filter

Dirty filters restrict airflow and reduce efficiency.

Replace or clean monthly (or per manufacturer's recommendation).

2. Check the Thermostat

Ensure it's set to the right temperature and programmed to save energy when nobody’s home.

Consider a smart thermostat for better control.

3. Inspect Vents and Airflow

Make sure all vents are open and unblocked.

Clean any visible dust or debris.

4. Clear the Outdoor Unit

Remove leaves, grass, or debris from around the condenser.

Maintain at least 2 feet of clearance around the unit.

5. Listen for Odd Noises

Banging, rattling, or squealing can indicate mechanical issues that need professional attention.

6. Check for Leaks or Moisture

Condensation is normal, but standing water or refrigerant leaks are not.

7. Schedule a Professional Tune-Up

An annual HVAC inspection can prevent expensive repairs and ensure efficiency.

Here are some great reasons WHY you should make sure your filters are changed in a timely manner year round.

1. Improved Air Quality: During the summer, dust, pollen, and other allergens are more prevalent. A clogged or dirty filter can't trap these particles as effectively, which means they circulate through your home. Changing the filter helps maintain cleaner, healthier air inside, especially for people with allergies or respiratory conditions.

2. Energy Efficiency: Air conditioners work harder to cool your home during summer, and a dirty air filter makes this even harder. When the filter is clogged, air flow is restricted, causing your system to work overtime to maintain a comfortable temperature. This results in higher energy bills. A fresh filter helps your system run more efficiently, saving you money.

3. Prolonging the Life of Your HVAC System: If air flow is restricted due to a dirty filter, your AC unit has to work harder and can overheat or get damaged over time. Regularly changing the filter helps reduce wear and tear on the system, extending its lifespan and avoiding costly repairs.

4. Preventing Mold and Mildew: Summer heat and humidity create ideal conditions for mold and mildew growth, especially if there’s any moisture in the air conditioning system. A clogged filter can prevent proper air circulation, trapping moisture and potentially contributing to mold growth. A clean filter helps prevent this problem.

5. Better Comfort: A clean filter ensures that your AC unit can deliver cool air consistently and efficiently. If your system is working properly, it can maintain a comfortable temperature throughout your home without fluctuating too much or having to constantly run at full capacity.

So, while it’s easy to overlook, swapping out your air filters every 1-3 months during the summer months is a simple but essential step for maintaining good air quality, efficiency, and the longevity of your HVAC system.
