Plant parents, its time to get your trimmers out.

Plants like tall Sedum + Asters should be pruned before July 4th to prevent flopping and still allow for blooms yet this fall.

Other perennials such as Baptisia and Salvia can be pruned to help tighten their look after blooming.

Plant parents: 🌱

It’s an awkward time of the year for bulbs. Don’t cut them back too soon. ✂️

The tops aren’t pretty, but they are important.

The greens are feeding the bulbs below. If you cut them back too soon, you are weakening your bulbs for next season.

Try braiding or tying them in knots to control their wild
look.

Some plants are still sleeping. Don't lose hope.

Hardy Hibiscus are one of a few perennials who are late to show life in the spring.

I have seen this beauty wait until almost June to show new shoots at the base. Don't dig it up too soon.

Last year's stems will not green back up, so cut them down to 3" and let then let it be.
