The Birkett Mills has donated $25,000 toward the Yates Community Center’s expansion project in Penn Yan, according to the Finger Lakes Times. We are searching for our next Volunteer Treasurer. This job requires a special person who is detail oriented and preferably has accounting-type experience.

The Treasurer is elected by the Board to a one-year term and may serve an unlimited number of terms.

Key Responsibilities:
· Monthly:
o Prepare and present Treasurer’s Report to board, including:
o Income and expense activity with financial account balances and updated cost for each project.
o Update mortgage & rental payment status (general for meeting and specific for President & Vice President).
o Calculate Schuyler County HFH portion of monthly mortgage receipts and issue check

· Annually: ·
o January: File IRS 1099-NEC and 1096 forms.
o March: File annual Sales Tax return (on line), even if no sales tax sales is due.
o July/August: Assemble fiscal year financial data for independent review
o August/September: Assemble fiscal year financial data for IRS tax return and NYS CHAR 500 preparation.
o December: Submit application (on line) for insurance coverage

· General:
o Pay bills in a timely manner so as to avoid surcharges.
o Record construction related expenses.
o Submit Real Property Tax Exempt application forms to the town assessor.
o Recognize donations with personal letters to donors.
o Check post office box.
o Maintain files for each home project (i.e., invoices, owner communications, copies of key documents etc.)
o Maintain financial accounts with User IDs and Passwords
o Manage financial assets so as to maximize return at a minimum of risk.
· Transfer invoices/receipts/manuals for key house equipment/components for warranty and other reference needs, and certain official/legal documents to homeowner after mortgage closing.
· Maintain financial records according to the Record Retention Policy.
