A smarter way to support both park visitors and park operations.

At Mike Ward Community Park in Irvine, California, Romtec helped deliver a new park office building that combines public restrooms with a dedicated workspace for park staff. Designed to replace an aging facility, the new structure improves accessibility, supports increasing park usage, and provides a central location for daily park management.

Built with durable concrete construction and customized to complement the park’s existing architecture, this facility serves multiple functions in one efficient building while helping the City of Irvine modernize its park infrastructure.

Working alongside the City of Irvine, David Volz Design, and Environmental Construction, Inc, this project demonstrates how thoughtful facility design can enhance the visitor experience while improving operational efficiency for park staff.

At the Harris Nature Center in Okemos, Michigan, Romtec designed and supplied a double waterless restroom facility to serve visitors exploring more than 200 acres of forests, meadows, trails, and outdoor recreation areas. The facility was designed to blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings while providing a durable, low-maintenance solution for public use.

Featuring Romtec's Original Toilet Risers and underground polyethylene vault system, this waterless restroom offers long-term performance with vandal-resistant materials and minimal environmental impact. The building's natural aesthetic, including stone veneer accents and Evergreen metal roofing, helps preserve the character of the nature center while enhancing the visitor experience.

Romtec worked alongside Meridian Township, Viridis Design Group, and LJ Trumble Builders to bring this project to life and support the center's mission of connecting the community with nature.

While play equipment is the main attraction, the surrounding park structures often determine how long visitors stay and how comfortable they are.

Well-designed Park and recreation facilities support both families and park staff in practical, meaningful ways. When park structures are designed with comfort and accessibility in mind, they do more than serve a function. They help families stay longer, enjoy more, and return more often.
