🔎 Builder’s Eye
What to look for in a quality tile install (before it’s finished)
Most people only see tile once it’s grouted.
But the real quality shows up before that.
Here’s what we’re looking for during install:
✔️ Layout first, tile second
Dry layouts and planning prevent tiny slivers and awkward cuts.
✔️ Level lines
You should see straight, consistent rows — even before grout.
✔️ Even spacing
Uniform gaps between tiles = clean grout joints later.
✔️ Proper edge details
Niches, corners, and transitions should already look intentional — not improvised.
✔️ Surface prep underneath
Flat substrate. Proper backing. Waterproofing done correctly.
Tile is only as good as what it’s bonded to.
At this stage, it may look unfinished.
But this is where quality is built.
Because once grout goes in, it’s too late to fix what’s underneath.
