Attending the AIA Central Valley Academy of Architecture for Health (AAH) Happy Hour last week was a ton of fun! It was great to make new connections and share ideas with fellow creators in our industry. We're so proud to be part of this great community of professionals. Introducing Ocean Babcock. He graduated from The University of Kansas with a Master of Architecture degree with an emphasis on urban design. Before California, Ocean lived and worked in Kansas City, as well as Chicago.

Growing up, one of his favorite things to do was building houses for his toys. Ocean points to that as the start of his interest in architecture. Throughout school, he went back and forth on whether he wanted to be an architect or a graphic designer (following in the steps of both his parents and so far, 2 of his 3 sisters). Needless to say, he made the correct choice. He has even gotten to do multiple graphic design adjacent projects. Beyond work, Ocean enjoys traveling, biking, running, and video games. He can’t wait to learn more and continue his journey in architecture.

Introducing Brandon Francom! Brandon is a senior level architect & urban designer with over 20 years of experience in a wide variety of project types and in all phases and in various cities across the U.S. He grew up here in the Salt Lake City area but spend most of his time away at graduate school and working in cities such as Atlanta, Orlando, Portland, and Seattle. His last 10+ years have mostly been focused on mixed-use/multifamily/hospitality, mid-rise/high-rise, urban design, and masterplanning in Seattle, and here in Salt Lake City. He has also been more involved in the front end /conceptual design work. Projects such as the Rocky Mountain Power Headquarters and Power District Masterplan are projects he was a lead designer on. He is blessed with a talent to draw but has also been learning the ins and outs of using AI to supplement design.

Brandon is excited to be working at Architectural Nexus, and believes his values align well with Nexus. He was the first one to be LEED accredited at the firm he was with in 2006, and has been involved in LEED and other similar sustainability programs on a few projects and masterplans.

Introducing Lexi Logovi'i! Lexi has been working in the architecture field since 2022, mostly part-time while attending school. She has experience working on Medical, Education and smaller commercial projects. She graduated in April 2026 with her B-Arch Degree and will be perusing licensure in the near future. While at UVU, she studied classical architecture and won a team design award for a restoration design proposal of the Rio Grande Train Station in downtown Salt Lake City.

We're excited to set up our booth and be represented by our own Peter McBride at the California Special Districts Association in Palm Desert.

Peter has great enthusiasm for civic, library, recreation, and community-focused projects, and is always looking out for the next way to help create lasting impacts on communities. As Architectural Design Lead and as the Director of Regenerative Design and Sustainability at Architectural Nexus, Peter leads a diverse team of experts focusing on design strategies and sustainable solutions which have resulted in award-winning projects. If you have special projects of any type or size you want to get off the ground, come meet with Peter. He's excited to meet you!

Oh, and come create a custom potted succulent to take home with you!

It was an honor to once again host the Utah Energy Coalition at our Salt Lake City office! We were pleased to welcome leaders from the Beehive Energy Alliance, Women’s Energy Network Utah, and the Utah Grid Edge Forum, along with policymakers and other industry partners, for a great evening of conversation and connection.

A big thank you to all of the presenters, panelists, and everyone who helped make the evening possible. The presentations offered valuable insights on topics ranging from grant opportunities to strategic tax planning, and it was great to hear perspectives from across Utah’s evolving energy landscape.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to sit alongside these organizations and leaders as Utah’s energy industry continues to move forward.

And a special thank you to World Trade Center Utah (WTC Utah), Economic Development Corporation of Utah (EDCUtah), and the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity for their participation and support.

in honor of school resuming. The Westbrook Elementary School remains a favorite project of ours. The sustainability efforts we put in place continue to keep the environmental impact low, costs low, while offering an excellent space of learning and play for the students.

Westbrook Elementary is the sixth school the Roseville City School District opened since 2008 and all of them have been west of Fiddyment Road.

Our team had a wonderful time at the recent Women In Architecture Partini. It was a great opportunity to connect, celebrate, and enjoy the incredible sense of support and community among women in the architectural profession. We are grateful to be part of such an inspiring group!

Arch Nexus is proud to share that our CANstruction project "Fueling the Future: 250 Years of American CAN-do," won two awards: Most Cans Used, and Best Use of Labels!

This project was a collaboration between Arch Nexus teammates Ryan Bowker and Rachel Sittler, along with Dunn Associates, Inc. and Layton Construction. It was a true delight to come together and create this amazing art piece.

The 5,900 cans used for our project will now be donated to the Utah Food Bank. We also want to give a big thank you to everyone who voted for our sculpture and all other sculptures!
