Revit is one of the best tools in our office. It’s also capable of some real terror. Step inside, if you dare:

The Crypt: The error message that appears the second you realize you didn’t save. “Looks like someone should’ve saved earlier...” Thanks for that.

The Hallway of Warnings: “Wall is slightly off axis.” Slightly. 400 times.

The Waiting Room: Sync with Central, stuck at 12% since before lunch.

The Dungeon: Missing add-ins, right when you need the model yesterday.

We love it anyway. Mostly.

Revit giveth, and Revit taketh away (usually unsaved work).

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Pamela Atkinson.

Pamela spent her life serving Utah’s most vulnerable, from people experiencing homelessness to refugees and low-income families. She also mentored a generation of nonprofit leaders and legislators. She knew hardship firsthand, and that understanding shaped everything she did.

ajc architects was fortunate to have a close working relationship with Pamela. She played a role in our work on the YWCA projects and on our three homeless resource projects – one of which was named in her honor back in 2022, and our paths crossed again in our work with Volunteers of America. In every setting, she kept the focus where it belonged: on the people these spaces are meant to serve.

That commitment is one we share. At ajc architects, we believe architecture should serve the community, and that every person deserves a space that treats them with dignity. Pamela lived that belief every day, and working alongside her strengthened our own.

Our thoughts are with her family, her friends, and everyone whose lives she touched.

We sincerely thank AIA Utah for this recognition and congratulate the talented team at ajc architects whose dedication, creativity, and thoughtful approach brought new life to this historic building.

We believe that preserving our architectural heritage is about more than protecting the past—it is about finding new purpose and relevance for the buildings that tell our communities’ stories. Whether grand landmarks or humble, utilitarian structures, these buildings are part of our shared history and deserve the opportunity to serve future generations.

We are proud to have played a role in the Murray Armory’s next chapter and grateful to everyone who helped make this project possible.

Congratulations to our friends at .bank on their rebrand! 🎉

Designing the Spanish Fork branch alongside Accordia as their new identity rolled out gave us the chance to reimagine the building plan from the ground up. The result is a new prototype that reflects the Accordia brand and sets the bank up for continued success.

Their fresh look honors a deep commitment to community and heritage, and we're proud to celebrate it with them.

Today we're celebrating the continued success of Open Sky Zion Resort and its recent feature in the July issue of City Lifestyle St. George!

It’s exciting to see Bygnal Dutson’s vision come to life and this special glamping project enjoy growing success. We loved collaborating with Bygnal on the masterplan layout and tent selection, guided by an ethos of treading lightly on this sensitive site and preserving the qualities that make it so special.

Proud to share that our work on the Museum of Utah is featured in Utah Construction + Design!

On Miller Avenue, adjacent to Millcreek Commons, sits a newly completed apartment building, completing the multi-phased Brickside Heights project. The seven-level building’s detailing honors the neighborhood’s brick manufacturing heritage while adding unique material details throughout to create visual interest and a welcoming atmosphere. Brickside Heights offers a variety of unit types, from studios to townhomes, served by beautifully designed terraces, coworking spaces, and community amenities.

The finished photography documents the carefully considered design decisions throughout the structure, as well as its architectural character. We'd like to extend a special thanks to Jared Kenitzer for highlighting these efforts with such amazing fidelity.

Behind every project lie hundreds of hours spent developing forms and spaces that respond to local needs and precedents. This process builds a deep relationship with place, honoring the history of both people and land; it also sits at the core of Richfield Regional Center's design philosophy.

The area's settlers, primarily Mormon pioneers, carried a linear grid through both the land and their cultural life. Our team found a resonance between local quilt-making traditions and the rigid city grid the settlers established. Taking this as our precedent, we developed the building's forms as a tapestry of materials, stitched together at different scales and orientations to create a "quilted skin." This skin wraps the exterior and enters the building along a central axis, where the city grid breaks and is reintroduced. As the building rises, take note on how the brick, mesh panels, and interior elements layer into a patchwork of design elements.

Just visible from Highway 89, the Farmington regional center is entering its final months of construction. Clad in pewter brick with striking copper toned accents, the building will soon open its doors to serve Farmington and Davis County.

Inside, an upward-curving ceiling motif is repeated throughout the building, channeling natural light down through a bay of clerestory windows. It was no small feat to execute, but the payoff is worth every bit of complexity: transforming a space people usually dread into one that feels calm, open, and filled with light.

There's something special about this stage of construction. After months, sometimes years, of planning, the details finally start to materialize into something real. As we near completion, we're taking a moment to celebrate this milestone — and to look ahead to the day this building starts serving the community it was built for.

Students at USU may have noticed a new building rising in the middle of campus. The new Administration Services Building is taking shape as its neon (Sure-Board) clad walls establish the volume. Striking on their own, these walls - soon to be covered by a brick façade - create intimate, light-filled spaces that invite nature into the building.

Windows and skylights have been placed strategically throughout to create a calming atmosphere informed by the natural beauty of the surrounding campus. A bridge connecting the new building to the existing one adds more nature-filled vignettes.
