A few weeks ago, we had a tiny idea… born from a very real night-time problem. 🌙👶

When you want to:
• check on a sleeping baby,
• move around the house without waking anyone,
• read a couple pages in bed,
you often end up using your iPhone flashlight.

And then… 💥 boom — harsh white light everywhere. Partner wakes up. Baby wakes up. Your eyes wake up. Not ideal.

So we asked ourselves:
How is there no “gentle red flashlight” mode built into our phones?

That’s how SwitchToRed.com was born: a minimalist little add-on that turns your iPhone flashlight into a soft red light, so you can see at night without blasting the room (And make it much easier to go back to sleep.) 🌙🔴

Now, quick note: this project doesn’t have much to do with iMapper. But the whole team loved it so much (and kept asking for one) that we thought: let’s share it here anyway. 😄

We used our holiday break to ship the product and the first version of the website fast — and honestly, we had a lot of fun using .dev for that, congrats guys!

A small science note (we are a little bit crazy on longevity and sleep optimisation): Blue/white light at night suppress melatonin and delay sleep (especially compared to longer-wavelength light like red). That’s why many “night mode” / sleep-friendly setups on your phone/computer aim to reduce short-wavelength light (blue) exposure before bed. More info on the website.
