He sent his cutter down the sewer and cut out all the roots that were likely causing the problem, put a new wax ring in for our toilet and reseated it, put a pop-up valve on our clean out to make sure that IF it gets blocked up again it won't come into the house, and gave me instructions on how to apply root killer every year to extend the life of the sewer.
