Meet Fabian, who joined Cahill as an intern in 2024 and transitioned into a full-time Project Engineer earlier this year! ✨

What first drew him to Cahill? The people. After meeting a few Cahillians at the 2024 ASC Reno Competition, he could tell it was a place where people genuinely cared - about the work, and about each other.

Over the course of a year, he worked across four different projects, gaining valuable experience from a variety of teams. One of the biggest lessons he learned was to embrace new challenges, even when stepping into unfamiliar territory. "The most valuable lesson I gained as an intern was learning not to be afraid to take on tasks, even when I didn't know much. It pushed me to ask questions, learn quickly, and stay engaged." That mindset helped prepare him for a seamless transition into his current role, where he now takes on greater responsibility and plays a larger role in project decision-making.

His advice for current and future interns: "Take the bull by the horns. There's a lot to learn, and the more you engage, the more you'll get out of the experience.”

And his favorite part about working at Cahill? "The people. I've had the chance to work with great team members who are supportive, easygoing, and always willing to help."

We're proud to support the growth of future builders and leaders, and we're excited to see all that Fabian accomplishes in his career at Cahill.

This Tuesday we celebrated the grand opening of 1633 Valencia Street, offering 145 units of permanent supportive housing for seniors 55 and older in San Francisco's Mission District. 🏠

Developed by Mercy Housing, designed by David Baker Architects, and made financially possible through the Housing Accelerator Fund, this is what happens when the right partners commit to a shared goal.

As design-builder, Cahill drove the process with a disciplined focus on managing design to budget, bringing trade partners in early, maximizing prefabrication, and completing BIM coordination before design development was even finished. The result: budgets held to GMP with minimal value engineering, a compressed schedule, and unused contingency that went toward resident upgrades, not overruns.

~$525,000/unit (excluding acquisition and reserves) and occupancy achieved in just over two years from entitlement.

Thank you to Mercy Housing, David Baker Architects, HAF, Felton Institute, Mission Action, and every partner who showed up for this one. It was a privilege to build alongside all of you.

Building community, one candle at a time 🕯️✨

Our Women+ group came together for an evening of creativity, connection, and conversation at our first Wick & Wine candle-making event. From selecting scents to pouring the final product, it was great to see everyone unwind, collaborate, and enjoy time together!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the event such a success. We’re proud to continue creating spaces that support community, inclusion, and meaningful connection across our teams.

The new internship season is coming up, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome our 2026 interns to Cahill! 👷‍♀️👷‍♂️

As we get ready for another summer with our interns, we’ve been reflecting on the experiences shared by last year’s group, from gaining firsthand field experience and learning from project teams onsite, to seeing the collaboration and teamwork behind every safe and successful build. Their experiences are a reminder of how impactful hands-on learning and strong mentorship can be at the start of a career.

We’re excited to continue creating those opportunities and can’t wait to see what this year’s interns will learn, contribute, and accomplish alongside our teams this summer. 🚧

A few weeks ago, we had the opportunity to tour the Wildcare restoration project in San Rafael. For generations, has provided lifesaving care for local wildlife while teaching the community about coexistence, conservation, and environmental stewardship.

The restoration will modernize and expand the facility to better support wildlife rehabilitation, veterinary care, and community education for years to come. Excited to see this meaningful project come to life and the lasting impact it will have on both people and wildlife alike! 🌿🦉

Celebrating a major milestone for San Francisco’s HOPE SF initiative 🎉🏘️

We were honored to join The John Stewart Company, our joint venture partner Nibbi, and the entire project team for the grand opening of Hunters View Phase III — the final phase of the Hunters View redevelopment. This transformative project delivers 118 new affordable homes, vibrant community spaces, and a new park, all while honoring the commitment to rebuild without displacing the families who call Hunters View home.

Thank you to everyone whose partnership, dedication, and vision helped bring this community-centered development to life. Here’s to creating lasting impact and stronger neighborhoods for generations to come!

Sunnydale is reaching new heights. 🏗️

At Block 9, the team celebrated a major milestone with today’s topping out ceremony — marking completion of the rough wood framing to the roof. With window installation progressing through Level 3, interior MEP rough-ins underway across all floors, and exterior waterproofing climbing toward Level 4, the project continues to gain momentum as crews prepare for upcoming WRB installation and tower crane dismantle later this spring.

Meanwhile at Block 7, wood framing is officially topped off and exterior progress continues to take shape with ongoing window installation, roofing operations beginning this month, and MEP rough-ins advancing throughout the building. Interior framing and shear work are steadily moving floor by floor as the team pushes toward the next phase of construction.

Huge congratulations to our Cahill and Guzman teams, trade partners, and project collaborators driving progress forward every day at Sunnydale Blocks 7 & 9. 👏

We’ve officially topped out at 525 N Capitol in San Jose—The Fielden, a five-story affordable housing development—marking a major milestone for the project! 🎉

To celebrate, we gathered for a topping out lunch and took time to connect as a team. The project team led a jobsite tour, giving everyone a closer look at the progress and sharing the thought process behind key construction and design decisions along the way.

Proud to help bring much-needed housing to the South Bay. 🏗️
