In this San Francisco residence light moves gently through the home, revealing texture, depth, and changing perspectives throughout the day. Enclosed by the surrounding cityscape, each opening is carefully considered to create moments of privacy, calm, and quiet contrast from morning into evening.⁠

Set within a converted warehouse in New York, this penthouse reinterprets industrial structure through a restrained, contemporary lens. In close collaboration with the owner, the design balances the building’s heavy timber framework with a lighter architectural touch, creating a calm, functional home for family life.

San Francisco-based architecture studio Min Design has created the interior design of a residence that explores the dynamics of light and shadow in San Francisco, United States.

By carefully examining the dynamics of light, the residential project, named Capturing Light, transforms the experience of urban life. The owner’s primary goal was to get light into the entire house because of the site’s extreme constraints, which include only two exposures.
