💡 Project Spotlight: Granite Pillars, Lighting & Paver Patio | South Deerfield, MA

A great patio is more than just the patio itself.

For this South Deerfield project, we combined premium Ideal pavers with granite walls, custom pillars, and integrated landscape lighting to create an outdoor space that's just as enjoyable after sunset as it is during the day. CountryScape regularly incorporates features like pillars, walls, steps, fire pits, and lighting to transform a patio into a complete outdoor living space.

The granite accents add a timeless New England feel, while the lighting brings warmth, safety, and atmosphere long after the sun goes down.

It's often the finishing touches that make the biggest difference.

🪨 Project Spotlight: Sugarledge Stone Walls, Steps & Veneer | Buckland, MA

This one’s a full natural stone build—designed to feel like it belongs right where it sits.

Sugarledge stone flagging. Hand-built walls. Custom-cut steps. And a barn veneer that ties the whole property together.

Every piece is real, locally sourced stone—fit and placed by hand to create that layered, organic look you just can’t get from manufactured materials.

It gets better with time.

🔥 Project Spotlight: Goshen Stone Fire Pit Patio

There’s something about real stone that just hits different.

For this project in Ashfield, we built a custom Sugarledge Stone patio centered around a natural stone fire pit—designed to feel like it’s always been part of the landscape. Every piece was hand-selected and fit together like a puzzle to create that organic, timeless look.

The result? A space that’s rugged, inviting, and built to handle New England seasons for decades to come.

If you’re picturing nights around the fire, this is exactly the kind of setting that makes it happen.

Project Spotlight: Modern Function Meets Nighttime Atmosphere in Bernardston, MA 💡⛰️

When a backyard has a significant slope, the goal isn't just to hold back the earth—it’s to create a destination. For this Bernardston home, we designed a multi-level space that stays functional long after the sun sets.

The Material Breakdown:
1️⃣ Ideal Block Retaining Walls: We used high-quality engineered blocks to create clean, structural tiers. This allowed us to carve out a massive, level patio area from a once-sloping hill.
2️⃣ Granite Steps: For the heavy traffic areas, nothing beats the durability of solid granite. These steps provide a safe, wide transition between the levels.
3️⃣ Integrated Lighting: We built low-voltage LED lighting directly into the walls and steps. It doesn't just look incredible at night; it adds a crucial layer of safety for the homeowners.

From structural engineering to the final glow of the patio lights, this project was all about maximizing every square inch of the yard.

Project Spotlight: A Classic Trio in Greenfield, MA 🧱🌲

Creating a traditional look that stands the test of time often comes down to picking the right "team" of materials. In this Greenfield project, we brought together three New England staples to transform the home's exterior.

The Material Breakdown:
1️⃣ Fieldstone: Used for the retaining walls to provide that rugged, hand-stacked texture. This red stone is a common sight around the Greenfield area.
2️⃣ Granite: We used granite for the steps and capstones to give the project clean lines and unmatched durability.
3️⃣ Clay Pavers: The brick-style walkways add a pop of color and a historic "paver" feel that ties the whole landscape together.

Whether it’s the structural strength of the fieldstone or the timeless look of the clay pavers, each material plays a specific role in this Traditional design.

Granite or Goshen Stone? Why not both? 🧱⚒

In our latest Project Spotlight, we’re heading up to Stratton Mountain to look at how different materials can work together to define a space.

By pairing the light, consistent tones of Fitzwilliam Granite (used for the steps and walls) with the colorful, varied textures of a Goshen Stone patio, we created a high-contrast look that stands out against the Vermont woods.

Which material is your favorite?
1️⃣ The clean lines of Granite
2️⃣ The rustic charm of Goshen Stone

Project Spotlight: Rustic Elegance in Deerfield, MA 🌿

There is something timeless about using local materials. For this project, we installed a custom Ashfield Stone flagstone patio featuring a beautiful sitting wall and integrated stone steps.

Why Ashfield Stone?
It’s a local favorite in the Pioneer Valley for its incredible durability and natural, rustic texture. It’s a "low-maintenance" material that only looks better as it ages.

Design Highlight: Notice how the sitting wall defines the space? It provides permanent seating for gatherings without cluttering the patio with extra furniture.
