Sewers have become my favorite and most fulfilling part of plumbing! Nothing last forever, and sewers are no exception. Houses settle, old pipes break, belly’s form (sections of pipes that are filled with water because there’s a dip in this particular section). If any of these happen, clogs start to form because flow is inadequate, then I get called in to snake & camera to locate the problem.

For this job I originally got called out to snake it, and thankfully the owner already had the toilet pulled, because there was no clean-outs outside for me to snake from. I got it cleared within a matter of minutes and camera’d the line - in doing so I discovered that there was a belly for most of the mid section that was catching all solid debris.

I had the entire 35’ line dug up and then replaced the sewer with brand new 4” PVC - so the owner/tenant wouldn’t have to deal with clogs for a very long time. I also installed 2 double way clean-outs so a future drain cleaner can clear a clog from any direction and as close as possible. The owner and tenants were wonderful people, and they were really happy to have this done 😊

This was a pretty cool job I got to do recently as part of a remodel!
What you see is called a Sani-Flow toilet. My client didn’t have a 3” pipe already ran to this portion of the house (minimum for toilets), just a 2” pipe AND there was a very thick concrete wall with no crawl space that would have had to be opened up way more to fit the pipe better.

The quotes she was getting wasn’t exactly budget friendly to get a bigger pipe to this section. I suggested this toilet option so we wouldn’t have to upsize the pipe. It’s a macerating toilet so it shreds solids to be able to fit through a 1” diameter pipe.

It’s also a great option for basement additions if the sewer happens to be higher than the basement floor, this particular toilet has a built in pump to pump up 20’ or so.

Works great and she’s happy! 🙂

An amazing client of mine had a very dangerous burner chamber situation and unfortunately these direct vent water heaters cost almost as much as a tankless unit. I gave her the options and she went with the tankless option.

I hard-piped copper all the way to the unit and secured it to the wall so it’s nice and rigid and just looks nicer all around! There’s a crawl space directly behind this wall where I made friends with Ben the rat and had to upsize gas to 3/4 and run new gas pipe to properly feed the unit.
