Coolness is right around the corner! Consider planting grass late September through November. The pros of planting during the cooler months are less watering, still plenty of time to root in and less heat stress!

Watering! Please take note that we are currently in a drought. No rain. It's imperative to water deeply and we recommend morning not afternoon. Afternoon watering can give way to fungus due to the high humidity and heat. If you do water in the evening be sure that you apply fungicide as a preventative measure. If your current watering plan is not sufficient increase watering time on your irrigation system. Irrigation systems generally only supplement rainfall and it's a feat to get the coverage required in a 20 minute cycle. Suggestion is to increase during this extreme heat. Consult your irrigation specialist for more details on your particular system.

Insects! As a part of regular maintenance and aftercare all lawns should be treated with insecticide especially during periods of stress (drought, included). Currently, problems could arise due to chinch bugs, sod web worms, etc. Easily remedied by treating!

Sunny Sod carries both fungicide and insecticide for your convenience, but it can also be purchased at your nearest feed store, Home Depot or Lowe's.
