Some jobs start with a blank lot. This one started with history still in the ground!

The old barn had been there for generations, weathered down to its bones. Nate’s family built on this land long before Free State Builders had a name. So when it came time to rebuild, we didn’t just show up with lumber. We showed up with some context.

You don’t tear down what people planted their lives around. You work with what’s still standing and you build the rest right!

This rebrand represents our owner, Nate Hiatt, and our beliefs as Reno County and Kansas natives! We are not only going to continue building new homes but will also take on downtown redevelopment and historical restoration projects. We are going to make our corner of the world a better place with this brand!

After years of building under the Luxe Kansas name, today we officially launch as Free State Builders.

In 1884, a family stepped off a train in Nickerson, Kansas, and decided to build something. Over a hundred years later, we’re still doing it in the same county.

Free State Builders exists because Reno County deserves quality construction from people who actually know it. We’re not here to build fast and move on. We build to last, and we work in a community we’re proud to call home.

New homes. Historic restoration. Projects built the right way, from the ground up.
