As retail banking continues to evolve, flexibility is becoming essential to successful branch design.

Through BDG’s work with financial institutions, we’ve found that the most effective prototype is not simply one that can be replicated. It is one that can adapt to different sites, markets, customer expectations, technologies, and operational needs while maintaining a consistent brand experience.

After an incredible 38 years of service, we are celebrating the retirement of Alexander Hadjiyane, Vice President of Architecture - Northeast Studio.

Alex has been a respected leader in the industry for decades and continued his career with BDG following the acquisition of JRS. Throughout his career, he has brought extensive expertise to complex healthcare, pharmaceutical, and Department of Defense projects.

We are grateful for Alex’s many years of leadership, expertise, mentorship, and dedication, as well as the lasting impact he has made on his colleagues, clients, and projects.

Please join us in congratulating Alex and wishing him all the best as he begins this well-earned next chapter filled with photography, golf, cooking, travel, and plenty of new adventures.

Happy , meet Julia Lannon, Project Manager within our Program Studio located in Nashville, Tennessee!

Born and raised in New Orleans, Julia relocated to Nashville four years ago to pursue opportunities in building project management, focusing on residential and multifamily properties. Over the past six years, she has gained experience leading large-scale commercial development and operational projects, including managing due diligence for commercial real estate developments across the United States.

Today, Julia brings that experience to BDG, supporting Chase new build projects throughout the Tennessee market.

Outside of the office, Julia enjoys kayaking local creeks, fostering dogs, and discovering new additions for her garden.

We’re glad to have Julia’s experience and dedication on the BDG team. Join us in celebrating her this Team Tuesday!

We’re excited to celebrate Samantha Spaniak, AIA, who will serve as President-Elect of AIA Jacksonville for 2027! 🎉

Samantha’s journey with AIA Jacksonville has included serving as Head Chair of Emerging Design Professionals, Secretary in 2025, and Treasurer in 2026. Each role has strengthened her connection to the profession and her commitment to Jacksonville’s architectural community.

As she steps into this next chapter, Samantha looks forward to continuing that work through community, mentorship, advocacy, and thoughtful conversations about Jacksonville’s growth and built environment.

BDG Architects is helping preserve an important piece of Tampa’s architectural history through the ongoing restoration of St. John’s Church Tower. Designed by Francis J. Kennard, the tower includes a cross that was originally oriented toward Tampa Bay and served as a beacon for approaching vessels. As construction continues, BDG is working to honor the character and history of the original design, including restoring the cross to its historic waterfront orientation.
