“Not SO” Silent Snips Chronicles:
Coll de Dama Bordissotenca

I may have a little trouble pronouncing the name, but I have absolutely NO trouble enjoying the fruit!

One of my favorites from the Coll de Dama family, and also one of the first to ripen this season!

Pruning this beauty was pretty straightforward:
1. Trim to an outward-facing bud.
2. Keep the center open for airflow and sunlight.
3. Have some fun! Don’t be afraid of cutting “too much.” Trust me, these figs have a way of thanking you with even more vigor!

Another reason I went a little heavy with the snips? This particular tree didn’t produce any breba fruit this season, so I wasn’t concerned about sacrificing next year’s early crop.

Now I’m curious! Has anyone growing Coll de Dama Bordissotenca successfully harvested a breba crop? I’d love to hear about your experience!

Ok FigMamma Farms she’s headed to the oven

And THIS is exactly why I don’t bake during the week!

Things come up. Life happens. My house was freezing today, so my dough took forever to rise. Then I had places to be, things to do, and here we are 12 HOURS later, finally getting her into the oven.

A little baking lesson I’ve learned: Yeast doesn’t care about your schedule.
Temperature matters
Patience matters

and sometimes you just have to let the dough do its thing.

But LOOK AT THOSE BUBBLES! 😍 She’s beautiful!

I’m still learning how to balance life, work, family, grad school, and this little bakery that’s growing faster than I ever imagined.

Anyway, let’s see how this fig,rosemary, everything bagel focaccia turns out because she has taken up my ENTIRE day. 😂❤️

Silent Snips Chronicles: Episode 3

This beauty is just 2 years old, currently residing in a 15-gallon pot, and already sporting a fantastic natural shape!

Mother Nature deserves all the credit for this one. FigMamma can’t take an ounce of it!

Sometimes the best pruning starts with recognizing when Mother Nature has already done most of the work.

Now, let’s just hope my interventions don’t turn her masterpiece into a crime scene! 😂
