With summer☀️ now in full swing we wanted to offer some mowing tips to help your lawn stay as healthy as can be!

1. Make sure your lawn mower blades are sharp. It’s good to get them sharpened at the beginning of every season.

2. Mow high: you want to mow at a 3.5-4 setting. Mowing your lawn too short can cause the lawn to burn out.

3. Try and avoid mowing when it’s excessively hot. The mower may leave heat stress lines in your lawn from the weight of the machine. These lines will eventually push out, but can be avoided.

Dealing with ragged, pinkish-tan patches in the turf?

It’s likely Red Thread, a cosmetic fungal disease that thrives in cool, wet spring weather. Because it only attacks the leaf blades and leaves the roots unharmed, the most effective fix is a light application of slow-release nitrogen fertilizer to help the grass outgrow the damage!!

Combine this with early morning watering (do not water in the afternoon or at night) to minimize leaf wetness, and temporarily bag your clippings in affected zones to prevent the fungus from spreading.
