The details are what make a custom home stand out.

Looking back at one of our completed builds, it’s the smaller choices that still catch your eye. Thoughtful finishes, custom trim work, unique materials, and details that were planned specifically for the homeowner and the way they wanted the house to feel.

Anyone can build the square footage. It’s the attention to detail throughout the process that gives a home its character.

A finished exterior starts one board at a time.

The crew has been working their way around our Moultrie build installing Hardie board siding, and this is where all those little details start adding up to a completely different looking house.

Straight lines, clean cuts, tight corners, and a whole lot of measuring before each piece ever hits the wall. It may not be the flashiest part of a build, but good exterior work is something you’ll notice for years to come.

Two weeks can make a pretty huge difference on a jobsite.

Just two weeks ago, our Moultrie build was heading into framing. Now, the house is fully dried in and really starting to take shape.

We’ve been here from the very beginning, watching this lot turn into a foundation, then a frame, and now a home you can finally start to picture finished.

There’s still plenty of work ahead, but this is one of those stages where the progress really starts to show.

Nothing quite like a brand new front porch to make a house feel complete. A little extra curb appeal, a welcoming place to slow down, and one of those finishing touches that really brings the whole exterior together.

This thing sure is looking good from above.

The Deegan build is getting closer and closer to the finish line. Interior and exterior painting are wrapping up, and all the details we’ve been watching come together over the last several months are finally starting to show.

A pretty incredible project to see from this angle. The Barndominium Company

A lot can change in just two months.

From a framed house wrapped in plywood to an exterior that is nearly finished, with the roof complete, board and batten installed, columns finished, and all the details coming together.

It’s one of the best parts of the building process, watching the structure transform and really start to look like the finished home we’ve been working toward.

Framing is officially underway on our Moultrie build. Walls are starting to go up, and the trusses are on site waiting for their turn.

Before a wall ever gets framed, the entire floor plan is chalked out on the slab, marking wall locations, room dimensions, door openings, and other key measurements.

It may not look like much, but this is where good planning pays off. Taking the time to verify dimensions and make sure everything is where it belongs is a whole lot easier, and cheaper, than realizing a wall is in the wrong place after it has already been built.

Measure it. Mark it. Check it. Then build it.

Metal or wood, which is better for a barndominium?

The honest answer is, it depends on the application. The size of the structure, desired spans, layout, budget, and long-term use can all influence which option makes the most sense.

Which would you choose for your build, metal or wood?

Metal framing has some real advantages when it comes to barndominiums.

Strength, durability, longer spans, and lower maintenance can all make metal a great fit, especially for larger builds, shop space, and wide open layouts.

The right material depends on the project, but it’s always worth understanding the pros and cons before you build.

Not every barndo has to be a full-time home.

This local steel barndo is taking shape as a shop space with extra room to hang out, work, store equipment, and enjoy the property.

That’s one of the biggest benefits of this style of build. It can be designed around the way you actually live and use your land.

Whether it’s a custom home, shop, garage, or a combination of spaces, the right plan makes all the difference.
