🎃🍂 RELIABLE ON THE ISLAND | A FAMILY WEEKEND TO REMEMBER 🐴🏚️

Mackinac Island's closing weekend did not disappoint! ❤️

While Dad has been hard at work on some incredible roofing and exterior preservation projects this season, the kids and I got to make the trip over to visit him, and of course, we had to stop at all the job sites along the way!

There's something pretty special about seeing these beautiful historic homes and businesses up close, knowing the work our crew has been putting into them all season. It's a privilege to be part of caring for the places that make Mackinac Island so unique.

Then it was time to trade the job sites for costumes and candy! 👻🍬 We joined in the island's Halloween fun, enjoyed the sights, and made some family memories before the busy visitor season winds down.

From roofing and preservation to horse-drawn drays, historic buildings, and Halloween on a car-free island, this season has given us plenty of stories to share.

We're so proud of the work our team is doing on the Island, and we're happy to bring you along for the ride, because there's a whole lot more to this job than shingles!

🐴🏚️ RELIABLE ON THE ISLAND

🔨👷WHERE'S THE WORK TRUCK AND JOB TRAILER 🚧🌉

Think getting materials to a job site is as easy as loading up the tool crib and hitting the road? Not on Mackinac Island! 😉

One of the things that makes working on this beautiful island so unique is that the logistics take you back to a different time. And the process starts long before the first shingle comes off!

📋 First stop: The Building Department. Before work begins, there's a trip to the island's Building Department to handle permit applications — in person. That's right, some things still require showing up face-to-face!

🚛 Next stop: St. Ignace. Our materials are delivered to St. Ignace, where Arnold Freight Company takes over the journey to the island.

🐴 Then comes the dray. Once the materials arrive on Mackinac Island, they're loaded onto horse-drawn freight wagons called drays to make their way to the job site.

No pulling up in a loaded work truck and job trailer. No quick run to the lumberyard when you forget something. Planning, timing, transportation, and coordination all become part of the job.

It's a different pace, a different process, and a pretty incredible reminder of how much goes into the work behind the scenes.

And honestly? Getting to work on these beautiful homes and businesses, surrounded by so much history, makes the extra effort worth it. We're proud to play a small part in caring for the buildings that help make Mackinac Island so special. ❤️

🏚️🐴 RELIABLE ON THE ISLAND: A SEASON OF ROOFING, HISTORY & PRESERVATION 🍂🎃

There are roofing jobs… and then there are the ones that let you become a small part of something truly special.

Reliable Roofing and Siding has had the privilege of working on Mackinac Island for 5 seasons, where the homes and businesses tell stories of generations past, the architecture is unlike anywhere else, and preserving the beauty of these buildings matters.

And let me tell you… working on an island without cars brings a whole new meaning to getting the job done! 🐴

Materials, equipment, deliveries, access, and planning all come with their own unique challenges when horses and horse-drawn drays help keep the island moving. You can't just hop in a truck and run back to the shop for something you forgot! Every detail takes a little more thought.

Over the next several weeks, we're taking you along with us as we share some of the beautiful properties we've been working on, the behind-the-scenes logistics, the craftsmanship that goes into these projects, and a little of what makes Mackinac Island such a special place to work.

And this weekend, things get a little more personal! 🍁👻 The kids and I are heading to the Island to visit Daddy, so we're mixing business with family adventures, fall colors, island history, and some Halloween fun!
