At some point in the 1950s, a decision got made that most HVAC companies never bothered with: build the ductwork yourself.

Not order it pre-cut from a warehouse. Not fit off-the-shelf pieces into houses they were never sized for. Actually fabricate it — in-house, by hand, for each job.

That decision is still how we operate today in Franklin County. Automated sheet metal equipment, custom dimensions, built for the specific home in front of us.

When your name has been on the work since 1957, you don't outsource the part that makes it last.

If you've got a new build, an addition, or ductwork that's never quite worked right — what does your current setup look like?

One person's freezing. The other is sweating. This has been the arrangement all summer.

A ductless zone fixes that — no ductwork, no major construction, just the right temperature in the right room.

We've been doing this since 1957. We can walk you through whether a ductless zone fits your home before Labor Day — no obligation, just a conversation.

Who's the freezing one in your house?

'A neighbor said he could fix it for $50 in parts.'

We hear this every summer. And almost every time, we show up after.

Here's what actually happens: wrong refrigerant charge, even slightly off, puts the compressor under stress it wasn't built to handle. The system runs. It cools — for a while. Then the compressor fails.

Compressor replacement isn't a $50 conversation. It's a four-figure one. Sometimes more than the unit is worth.

The worst part? 'It was cooling fine when he left.'

That's the cruelest part of this failure. It looks like a win right up until it isn't.

We've been doing this since 1957. Certified technicians, not guesswork. The shortcuts don't save money — they just delay the real bill.

It is 9 PM. Your house is 82°F and climbing. The kids cannot sleep. The AC just stopped.

Before you call anyone, run these 3 quick checks — each takes 60 seconds:

1. Check the breaker. Find your electrical panel and look for a tripped breaker labeled AC or air handler. Flip it fully off, then back on.

2. Check the air filter. A clogged filter can shut a system down. Pull it out. If you cannot see light through it, that may be your answer.

3. Check the thermostat. Make sure it is set to COOL, not FAN. Drop the set temperature 5 degrees below the current room temp.

If none of those fix it — we answer 24/7, nights and weekends included. No one should sweat through a Missouri summer waiting until Monday.

Did one of these steps actually solve it for you?

A heat pump can be the right system for a Missouri home. Or it can be an expensive disappointment.

The difference rarely comes down to the brand on the outdoor unit.

It comes down to three things most people never hear about until after installation:

How accurately the system was sized for the actual heat loss of the house.
Whether the ducts and insulation can support the lower supply temperatures a heat pump delivers.
What happens on the coldest nights when the heat pump needs help.

Get those three right and the system delivers. Miss them and the house never feels quite right, no matter what the brochure promised.

Late summer is still a good window to look at the whole picture — before the heating season starts making every shortcoming obvious.

If your power bill keeps climbing and your thermostat setting never changes, your ducts may be sending conditioned air straight into your attic.

Three signs worth checking right now:

Some rooms cool fine, others never do. Dust builds up fast on certain registers. Your August bill looks nothing like your neighbor's.

All three point to the same problem — air escaping before it reaches you.

To think you could be losing a third of your cooling all summer, every summer, and never know it.

We've been designing and fabricating custom ductwork in-house since 1957. Not patches. A permanent fix.

Is your August bill higher than it should be?

Late August isn't peak summer. It's when ductless systems start failing.

After months of constant cycling, three things stack up fast. Condensate drain pans clog with algae and overflow. Run capacitors that were borderline in June finally give out. Refrigerant circuits that held pressure all summer start showing fatigue.

Our technicians in Franklin County see this pattern every year in the call log. The homeowner thinks the system just randomly quit. It didn't. It warned them all summer.

Is your ductless unit running longer than usual to hit the same temperature?
